Wow, 8x8 would be so crazy! And that demo was awesome! What's it cost to have an 8x8 active matrix mixer made?

Does anyone know if there's such a thing as a midi controlled matrix mixer?

Closest thing I can think of is a Keith McMillen KMix, but that's not exactly a matrix mixer - just a mixer with a fuckton of routing options that's fully MIDI-controllable.

solo tunes:
completed works || loosey goosey releases
associated acts:
Raab Zamboni (fake jazz/real noise//sax, modular synth, editing, misc) || Field Guide (my best friends//sax on 2 tracks)

I make t-shirts, patches, koozies, buttons, CDs, sometimes tapes, and eventually i'll start working on pedals again. DM me for pricing!

There are high end rack matrix mixers, I'm guessing some of them have midi going on, but you're talking thousands of $$

I would think that it wouldn't be too hard to make something that was similar to how the Chase Bliss pedals are setup. It's not like the circuit is complicated or hard to build. If it's 4x4, then you just need enough I/O on the microprocessor to accommodate 16 of those pots. If only I could just start with the CBA code base....

So I'm gonna bump this up with a question re: active vs passive - I'm wanting to run guitar/synths/tape loops into my board/rack stuff/Max MSP (for the most part - certainly feedback loop experimenting would happen no matter what). Would a passive mixer work fine to have all that biz going thru all that biz, or would I need an active one?

If you're only rerouting (like the patchulator) then you should be good.

If you're mixing signals together, or splitting them etc you can run into issues.

Personal opinion: I'd only use passive matrix mixer for noise fun, never for utility.
Couldn't have said that better. I had a passive matrix mixer and ended up selling it because there were so many volume issues when mixing signals. I'm really gassing for the Pladask one

hint: i love it.

I'd remove it from the board only If I had a really small pedalboard, it's too much fun when you have +4 other things, also + synth and several amps or whatever. :!!!:
Yeah your BILF board looked awesome! I'd definitely play something similar. I'm really wanting the Pladask to mix synths and create some feedback routing with pedals
