it would be nice to bring like 4 decks worth total but even 2 would be fine. they don't need to be amazing, just usable.

i think commander is the best casual format, and highly recommend it. and the new preconstructed commander decks are suprisingly good.

Who was selling a shitload of Magic cards in the BST a while back? You should ask that guy. Fairly certain it was a regular.
Does that help at all Brian?
No?

Do you guys know Magic well? Commander may be more complicated.
Play styles you like? Aggro? Midrange? Control?

i feel like i have a pretty good grasp of what's going on for the most part and andy a little less so. just looked up commander - seems interesting to say the least but we'll probably be playing standard games. andy is aggro and i'm more interested in midrange and control.odontophobia wrote:Do you guys know Magic well? so like...
would this be a worthwhile purchase?
https://www.amazon.com/Magic-Shadows-In ... W369D202H2
or any of the origins or core deck builders on amazon?
or some sort of fat pack?

Re: magic the gathering deck recs
I used to play Magic aaaages ago (really, first edition time or so), stopped, got back top it a few years later and stopped again (that was 15+ years ago). I wanted to get some cards to play games with a friend at work last year or so and got a set of 8 themed decks for cheap that was fun enough... It was called Duel Decks Anthology, I got it for maybe the equivalent of $50 ?
Aaaaaand, I just checked on Amazon.com and the one I got is far too expensive now, but others in that series could be worth checking.

Damn it I sold a huge box of Magic cards a few years ago that I much would have preferred trading towards pedals

I would probably just buy some dual decks. i think they're all 40 card decks so the games should play out reasonably quick and offer up a variety of decks. also you can pm me questions about rules and shit if you all get stuck. i'd say text but it's your europe tour, right?

I'd pick some of the dual deck or intro decks. Buy a few of those and you'll be able to have some nice combinations of different decks. You can always try to find some shit in similar colors and then make your own out of what's there.

Re: magic the gathering deck recs
I played back in the beta/3rd edition days. Sold all my cards in high school (ugh, so much amazing shit). Picked up a mixed lot later in college to construct some decks from, it was pretty fun.
That said, I also bought a couple of the newer preconstructed decks and it sure is a lot easier than spending hours figuring out if you have the right cards for any sort of synergistic deck. Makes playing with others a lot of fun, and a much more even playing field. The only downside was figuring out what all the new shit meant, and what the heck a planeswalker was.
I'd definitely trade any cards I have towards pedals. I know I have a Karn Liberated and a few other things somewhere.

dual decks are exactly what i was looking for, but couldn't remember the name! dude from another band on our last tour loaned me one for a week or so and it was perfect.odontophobia wrote: deck builders tool kit probably is less worth it.

Just run the weirdest fucking color combinations as possible. I sold all my cards so long ago but I used to love playing this. Think I had somewhere north of 20 decks at one time.
