Did I do brackets last year? I might've. I probably did.

Problem was, in that case, voting alternatives. I can usually only restrict it to 1 vote or people being allowed to vote on everything, so to allow people to vote on more than 1 out of ALL medium boards means brackets.

Or me tallying every vote by email, and I'm sorry but I worked my ass off last year and that was without doing that extra. And I didn't even participate to cheat myself to some of that sweet loot, as I will be doing THIS YEAR

If you have an alternative I'm very much interested in hearing it; I agree with you, but there needs to be a workable solution.


One idea I was thinking of doing this year was, for example:

All medium boards in the same voting pool
3 Polls for the same pool. That means people WOULD be able to vote on themselves 3 times, for example, or give 2 votes to one board and 1 vote to another. I'm ok with this one if you guys are.

3 Polls per pool give me 3 restricted votes, but i can't control the fact that you can vote multiple times on the same board, brackets solve that, but we end up with bracket "issues" such as yours, where all the bad boys duke it out and then is the clear winner later on with no competition.

To be fair, if you didn't win your bracket you still (most probably) wouldn't win, so there's that, but you don't get to come in 2nd. That's what brackets take away from you.

I'd kind of be alright with a 3 polls for the same pool situation. It does bring up some ethical issues for sure, though

What if you did multiple rounds of brackets?
It would depend on the number of entries of course, but would be something like:
1st round you take the top 3 or 4 in each bracket and make new brackets for a 2nd round. Then the 2nd round you could take the top 1-2 boards in a bracket and enter it in the final or semi-final round. It would take longer and would be more work, but you'd have less situations like rustywire mentioned.
