New Eventide pedal...
Eventide's new sneak peek video has a short bit about a new pedal they're working out that will be out this year. Looks like a Factor-style enclosure but much narrower and it sounds like it could be something cool. Sounds vaguely glitchy.
Cant make the embed work with a specific point in the video so just skip to 1 minute in if you don't care about their ridiculously powerful rack stuff.

I don't think they would cannibalize their existing pedals. Even with the H9 you have to buy each algorithm and those are specialized little bits of things available in other Eventide products.

Intrigued! I've always thought I might go for a smaller *factor if it existed (h9 has no knobs what is that even...)

My third PF came in the mail today...I still feel good about that. What's the quote at the end? 'Designed to do one thing really well, but in an interesting way?'
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

What if they've taken the next step in the EHX 9 series and given you that kind of processing but with a ton of variables? You could do some unbelievable things with some kind of resynthezing algorithms in a pedal.

I would have hoped they would kind of revamp the Pitchfactor. If it was a lack of processing power: create an updated version that could do excellent pitch tracking stuff that could rival the POGs AND have the ability to lower the tracking ability to get glitchy if desired. I also get though that they wouldn't want to engage in overlap and basically render the still produced Pitchfactor undesirable.
I'm curious to what the new pedal(s) do.
I really would have liked them to have created a looper based on the Timefactor's looper but with more loop manipulation options. Something to rivial the Echoplex Digital Pro

Re: New Eventide pedal...
The sound in the clip sounds somewhat like squarewave modulating a delay do that it jumps up and down between octaves but it also doesn't sound like repeats. It just sounds like pitch modulation. So maybe it is a pitch pedal of some sort?
My main qualm with the Pitchfactor was that it wasn't polyphonic.

The pitchfactor is polyphonic.
I need to figure out a way to swing the h9000

In my experience it was not in the modes where polyphony would matter - diatonic, quadravox, pitchflex, etc...Derelict78 wrote:The pitchfactor is polyphonic.

Also none of Eventide's documentation mentions polyphonic pitch shifting which is something you would absolutely mention if it was in fact polyphonic. It may handle some simple diads like 4ths and 5ths and octaves well enough but I think the EH and Digitech pedals are vastly superior. However, if you're mostly using the pedal for the algorithms that are primarily delay based like crystals and such then its less of an issue.

Re: New Eventide pedal...
K finally watched. Thoughts:
1. Fuck it I might sell my soul and buy an H9000
2. New plug in/algo seems to be called "fission" which you can see in the top right of the plugin window on his computer screen. I'm always interested in eventides plugins, they make some great stuff.
3. New form factor (ha) for the new pedal looks super cool. I wonder if they are going to do like a throwback h949 on a single pedal or something? Or some kind of riff on that idea. I mean I am assuming it's going to shift pitch, regardless.
I love enentide's shit. Hope this is all super rad.

Re: New Eventide pedal...
I'm almost certain its polyphonic because I mostly use the diatonic/quadravox/pitchflex with chords. I'll play like I sometimes do 5th with a Maj9 chord using the pitchflex set to 5ths. I also do a lot of sus and inverted chords with it and the tracking can glitch a bit but it does indeed work and especially if used subtly it isn't too much of a worry. If I do anything that is power chords or 4th it's pretty much perfect as far as I'm concerned.whoismarykelly wrote:In my experience it was not in the modes where polyphony would matter - diatonic, quadravox, pitchflex, etc...Derelict78 wrote:The pitchfactor is polyphonic.

Although maybe I don't really know what polyphonic pitchshifting is supposed to sound like or something.
oh and you cant discount the delays, the chorus type sound, the strange synth stuff, the digital fuzz and ring mod sounds you can create, and a tuner to top it all off. The only other pitch shifter I use is a boss PS-2. I tried the pog but it was too bland for me, and I never got around to trying a whammy or similar because they were so big.
