Realized today we have some coil listeners so figured we could share our favorite pieces of coils work...anything related, side projects, whatever.
here is my personal favorite.

I have been listening to this one a lot recently:

Which, like most if not all of their records can be found on archive.org (which is nice because physical copies can go for serious amounts of money):

I also very much enjoy most of the stuff from their greater family tree, as well.
good deals are here.

Any of you guys ever check out This Immortal Coil? Basically a supergroup of incredibly talented musicians (Matt Elliott, Bonnie Prince Billy, Sylvain Chauveau, Yann Tiersen to name a few) that covered some Coil songs. I'm not usually keen on covers but it's special when it's Coil.

I've heard of Coil until a few months ago when I met this guy from my town that made a split with them.

What I've listened so far is just OK for me.

Their version of Tainted Love is superior to all others before and after. Period. I will accept no argument, because if you try and argue you are wrong.

I only know and adore Love's Secret Domain. I've had a CD-R of that along with some illegally downloaded mp3s for many years and enjoyed countless spins/plays. I still don't own a physical copy because it would cost more money than I am comfortable spending on a very used, possibly damaged, scuffed piece of used-to-be-shiny plastic.

Even thought I think at one point I spent $99 on a Swans CD some years ago. But I mean, really, that was worth it. First pressing of White Light From the Mouth of Infinity when it was impossible to find? Fuck "money," great music is far more important. I think the entire vinyl boxset from a few years ago cost less than I spent on that single disc.

This is the good shit! Had no idea their stuff was on archive thanks for that!

That amber rain cover really rubbed me up the wrong way. I like a lot of the musicians involved individually but that felt like It had been made too into a twee and more generic version of an almost perfect song. Each to their own though and all that.

I always liked Horse Rotorvator best, but I admit I haven't kept up with Coil for a long time!

When he got older all this strange custom stuff came about and that synth he's holding is from bleeplabs!, loved how he would talk about his gear and invite audience to check it out and touch it.. he really liked it's sound..

(that's definitely a Weevil 09 but the bleeplabs stuff is rad, for sure):

It took a real long time before I could 'get' Rotorvator (aside from Slur), and I still don't think I'll ever 'get' LSD.

Yeah LSD was when I quit paying attention to Coil, but then I gave the Ape of Naples a spin and liked it quite a bit so now I should go back and pick the cherries.
