I mean you get to kill basically everything in them....sooooooooooooooo what's not to like? The whole point of gaming is to murder things on the screen isn't it? That's why I play at least.
I loved the first Dishonored. I loved that stealth was usually rewarded. There's ways of moving around not often used in games. To me it doesn't feel like D&D simply pasted into a FPS environment. Oblivion definitely did feel this way. In spite of that I put many hours into it, but only when I didn't have anything else to play. When i finished a game I'd play oblivion for a while. Get bored. Buy a new game.
Skyrim was definitely improved, but still never really connected. Killing dragons was fun. Dredging through endless caves killing goblin after goblin to search for some magical item, not so much.

The Dishonoured universe is great for getting the idea of "steampunk" done right. It's got great atmosphere and really isn't traditional fantasy schlock at all.
