I need a war chest. Too stressful to be self-employed, even with the fairly decent local communism

But honestly, I just have a better feel with tabletop setups and noise boxes, but who knows, might include some modules on there someday?
Good deals: OsbornKT, Phantasmagorovich, UglyCasanova, DarkAxel, Skip, D.o.S, ColdBrightSunlight, Eivind August, Goroth

I will bring my modular to the next ILF meetup and you can try integrating it with pedz + guitar if you really want to be in perpetual gear debt for the rest of your life. :)

I mean I see modular as being able to design a tabletop/noise setup to your liking. There definitely is no shortage of modules that can be used to make the noises you truly desire.

I saw that but a 4 x 2 matrix mixer doesn't really get the oven cooking for me. I still don't 100% understand how matrix mixers truly work though, want to get my hands on one to confirm.

I do sort of want to build this matrix mixer though. I feel like 8x4 can get fucky real quick.

I wanna say thank but also no thanks, so I'll just say fuck you, D.o.S.

Yeah I can say now that you know I'm your SS, but I really do enjoyed stalking your modular approach. It's exactly where I'm at. It's part of a toolbox that needs to work with peds, guitars, hardware synth and samplers and drum machines and noise boxes and all. So a smaller rack like yours is clearly where it's at. A wall of modules would actually lack in modularity from not being portable.

tfw bae doesn't read the link:
Mix 01 features the new Rebel Technology analogue bus, allowing compatible modules to be interconnected without additional patching. Two or more Mix 01 modules can be combined to create a matrix with more inputs and outputs.

I just selectively read that link then last week

I've been waiting for someone to stock the DIY kit of their Phoreos for a while now, guess I'll just have to get it from Thonk though.

I will say that as I get more and more into DIY, I find myself needing a vastly larger studio case. Integration with all things noise though is definitely a key though.

The best way to think of a matrix mixer might be to think of a patchulator that has input and output gain controls over each channel?

I'm pretty happy with my Rolands for mixing with extra routable processing and shit, and I want Blinds and Frames eventually too, so I've got it covered from half a dozen different angles already and might still add more. The pico sequential switch is definitely high on the list as well.
I love how odd HP is just a complete non-issue anymore thanks to Picomania.

I honestly just think of a matrix mixer like a standard mixer with more outputs and controls. A standard mixer would take X inputs and allow you to mix them to an output. A matrix mixer takes the same X inputs, but you can mix them in different ratios to X outputs.
The best part is really just the feedback loops though

Yeah that's a better way of describing it, for sure. It's a great way to create a blend of disparate input sounds and decide where and how much of each you want to send to what, essentially.

Do you have a link to your rack?
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.
