Ha...Mine is really tiny. It photographs large, but I just carved a little 10x15 space out of my basement.

Officially, according to the floorplan, my rehearsal space is 9.5x9.5. Actually, it's like 9.2x9 and has some non flat walls. It's also underneath an event space, next door to a metal bar that seems to open once every month or two for a week stretch, and the "DJ" with his room next to mine is clearly living in his 9.2x9 space as I can hear him and his girlfriend arguing all the time.

Other than a couch for occasional visitors and to store the wheelchair when it's not in use, the only use I have for my living room is a studio.

Otherwise, I could be fine in a studio!

I'm going to take pictures of my brothers home studio. I think you guys would enjoy it. It's made specifically for recording, so it's got lots thought put into it. I think it was like 20k to build. Insane.

I'm thinking of building out a single room in my basement. It's unfinished and I cannot afford to do the whole basement, but a room at a time? Sure!

Any thoughts on what to use??? Insulation for keeping bass frequencies from bouncing everywhere in the house is a huge plus! I may just have to invest in sound boarding, but I don't want to if I can find something that absorbs frequencies better for cheaper. Even flooring suggestions would rule!I found hardwood makes my bass sound better, vs carpet. Thoughts?

In terms of grab and stuff insulation materials, Roxul (or other fire safing mineral wool) is most effective - but it's also like ten times worse than standard fiberglass in terms of itching and installer misery. Mass stops bass, and any air leaks/etc. is a path for an audio pressure wave.

I'm looking at a move, I should probably list out and document everything as I shuttle it out, but it's a tough share since it's kind of absurd.

Most of the rack gear you see are old mid century oscillators, originally test (ala HP) or medical (Grass Instruments stimulators).

I don't really take pictures down there but here's something I invented to save floor space on drum overheads. I'm just doing mono obviously but you can add stereo hardware to the flange. I sent this photo to a couple of people who were professionals and they thought it was a pretty stupid idea. But their room probably isn't 11' x 10'.

I wonder though if slapping a track lighting rail and modifying a track lighting base to receive a threaded microphone stand mount might not make adjusting location far easier than the apparent three screw system you've got going on there.

RCA BC series Consolette pres are special. Love their sound.
I have a racked pair of some modern (2004) clones with custom Lundahl transformers.
It's going to be a few weeks before I post up, my aisle of misfit toys is currently in pieces

Yes.



Here's another example. The helping hands are connected to a transformer stepped down tap on turntable output (20 some odd watt amplifier) that is punched into Microphone #1 input after traveling across the moving conductive plane. It's kind of noisy.
