Not entirely no, but if you look at the trend of technology and the way it's moved in past years, you can plainly see that wireless is the way most prefer it. Think about it for a minute. All your internet connections can now be wireless. You gaming controllers. You keyboard and mouse. The telephone has been wireless for decades. Now cell phones are getting more and more powerful. We have wireless surround sound and have for years that works very well. Wireless instrument cables (which I seen some of the biggest names out there using them flawlessly and others who use them religiously with no issues). We have wireless remotes for our lights in homes or you can (I do for my living room). The list goes on an on.
So to me it's just a natural progression of technology and evolution of it. Will it have the same quality? I'm not sure yet. I do know that when I listen to my Beats wireless headset it sound just as good as anything else I've heard music through. For the price too, I cannot expect to get the sound quality that perfect but it's damn close to me.
I think it's a crap thing for some, but it's just the way things are going. Before you know it, you cell phones most likely will not have a plug in charger either. There will be literally no wires. They've already done it with a ton of android devices by having those charging bases you just lay your phone on. Sure that has to plug in, but for how long? LOL. Technology is continuous progressing.
Now I see why people are annoyed, but for phones, you have a lot of choices and at the end of the day it is just a phone. There will be adapters for this so you can still do wired, at least I've read that. So it's really a minor inconvenience.
Plus one of my friends pointed this out on facebook. People will spend 80 bucks on a case for their iPhone and not bat an eye, but if it's headphones they are pissed. I agree. I do both but that's me. I use my phone in the gym and have smashed on or more by accident. So I have to be careful.
Also the new iPhone has stereo speakers. So you will get pretty decent sound if you just want to lay in bed and listen that way.

My car has bluetooth, so I use that in there too.
Wireless is the way of the future, just like digital music. Embrace it or be left behind.
Plus Apple's headphones fucking suck anyway.
Good for you. I can only afford to drive old shitbox cars that don't have bluetooth.
And who the fuck wants yet another fucking thing they have to recharge every damn night?
I agree it is good for me. My car is a 2013 too, so it's not brand new and my wife has a 2011 and we put an after market system in hers that wasn't that expensive and she now has bluetooth as well.
I charge my headphones every couple of days. I use them in the gym and that's about it. I never talk on them or sit on my phone for hours at a time just chilling to music. If I'm around a better option like my home stereo, I'd rather use that.

All of the wireless mics I've ever tried sucked, but then again they were low-end because I'm broke af. Wireless remotes for lights? Do people actually spend money on this kind of extraneous shit? As far as the cars go, we just live in very different worlds, that's all. I've never had a car made in the same freaking decade, and no way I plop down money to put an aftermarket stereo system into my jalopy. The car isn't even really the big deal to me because like you said I can just get the adapter. The part that makes this really suck is exercising and yard work and shit like that. I keep my phone in my pocket when doing these things, and with the adapter sticking straight out of the lightning port like that, it's GOING to fucking break, no two ways about it. Which means I pretty much need to go bluetooth, which sucks because as I already said 1. costs money for new headphones and 2. always worrying about it running out of charge and dying. And maybe SOME people spend $80 on a case, but fuck that noise. $10 cheapo rubberized case FTW.
Wireless charging would be cool, because that would actually be a benefit for consumers. The difference is that there is literally no upside for consumers for Apple to do this. Getting rid of the 1/8" jack doesn't improve the phone in any way. They say it will let them make it thinner, WTF? Who wants it to be thinner? It's already so fucking thin that I've terrified of bending the damned thing in my pocket. This is just a straight cash grab by apple, that's all this is.

All of those products are inferior to wired products.

Wired smartphones suck!
For the rest, totally agree.

Using a wireless mouse/kb when pc gaming? You're gonna have a bad time.
Wired game controllers have superior response rate as well. Wireless controllers are better than nothing, but not wired controllers.
Define better. If you're talking convenience and not performance, wireless has it's perks. I'm not going back to a wired keyboard and mouse anytime soon
If they had a 16 hour battery life at full volume, good sound quality (wireless is never going to be as good as hi-fi as wired headphones), and you could use your phone to locate these when you lose them, then I might be willing to shell out some cash for them. Not $160, maybe $60...
Just don't buy the apple brand! They suck anyway! Regardless of price! I got some wireless ones for 30 bucks at Walmart before I got my Beats and they work awesome too!

How many stadium level bands are using cables? You don't see Slash, or Dave Murray or whatever trip over his cable. They're using wireless and have been for ages. And Iron Maiden live in Stockholm a few years back was the best sound I've heard at an outdoor venue. It was awesome. So obviously, wireless is already implemented for some areas of useage, without noticeable sound degradation. And that is only going to increase.
Saying that wireless will never be as good as wired is just Luddite.
Even disregarding future improvements in tech, if the bit rate of Bluetooth is inferior to what is necessary to deliver equivalent to 44,1 kHz audio, people are not necessarily interested in whether something is the best. Convenience will trump quality pretty much all the time. Consider "smart phones". My old Nokia could go a couple of weeks without a recharge. Coverage was awesome. My current phone needs to be charged every night, at best. But my Nokia is gathering dust somewhere. Fuck, I'd kill to have a battery life that's half as good as the old Nokia, but there are a bunch of things that I can do on my current phone that I wouldn't give up for anything. So it's a tradeoff.
At the moment it's a little difficult to see the benefit to me as an end-user in the tradeoff with getting rid of the 1/8 jack. I'm happy to see where this goes and see if that benefit becomes apparent with time.

That’s quarter-assed at best.
