i took over hosting it at my place recently, to save expenses, and it's totally fun, but god what a chore making my own stuff up for it.

LOL
I used to.....before kids. It was fun. But yeah, seems like it would be hard to keep finding questions after so many weeks of it.

Re: anybody play trivia at bars / restaurants?
Haven't done this in North America yet, but in England in particular having trivia nights was always good fun and a great change of pace from the usual pub atmosphere which is fine for the rest of the time.
Having specific themes of trivia often works the best, at least I think, so having a night of movie trivia, another of sports etc, this way there's usually new people because a regular will usually bring a friend who is really into film, then a different friend into sport etc.

that's actually not a bad idea at all - i'm sort of doing that tonight, one round is completely acronyms, but of different genres.
switching topics six times for six rounds each week is a bitch.

They're having a Marvel Universe themed one down the road from us in a couple of weeks, then it'll be something completely different next time.

I love doing this, even though I almost never get the chance to. Mostly the occasional round of trivial pursuit. Subjects of history and politics are my favs.
EDIT: didn't finish the post lol. Easy (as in: to come up with, not to answer) questions to include are geography questions like "which countries does the Rhen river flow through" and then have multiple choice with a few sets of countries. Or translating words in other alphabets thats pronounced the same as in english, like експерт ("expert", russian).

Current events may help. Also, if you play crosswords, you can use the clues or answers to inspire you.
Bar trivia is fun but there's always a team that does it religiously who kicks everyone's ass, and I'm never going to care enough about bar trivia to plausibly win, which kind of takes some of the fun out of it. Also I don't know a sports guy.

i haven't run into a team constantly slaughtering, just a girl in one team who can name damn near every song and artist within a couple seconds. crazy.friendship wrote:Current events may help. Also, if you play crosswords, you can use the clues or answers to inspire you.

Re: anybody play trivia at bars / restaurants?
Flags, man. Flags. Maybe the easiest trivial knowledge you can set up but still great fun to answer. You can really fuck people over with the whole Poland/Indonesia/Monico thing, plus North Africa is insanely hard to remember. (Fuck you Sudan/Palestine for costing me a pint of Guinness).
I haven't met anyone else who shares my apparent raging erection for flags, but I know they're out there, and they almost definitely hate themselves enough to do pub trivia on flags too.
