I go under the nom de rock "Crotchthrottle." Because, well, why the hell not?

Actually, the full story is that back in college, some friends and I were all plotting fictional band names - the only one other than mine that I really remember was "Yucky Star." And maybe "Rok Galaktik," but that was also my friend's radio DJ name... I digress. "Crotchthrottle" came to mind, and I hung onto it, waiting a long-ass time before using it for a name on a Talkbass noise project. And then it sorta stuck. It's down there in my sig, if you look carefully.

Conveniently, I'll be releasing my fourth album in the next month or so...

I think having a project name also helps you stay focused on what works for that aesthetic and what doesn't.

Oh yeah, this was important to me. It also weeds out people who, you know, can't handle absurd band names.

I also dig Psyre.

As of now all my music is ambient/glitch/psych. I do however want the freedom to expand on styles and be able to blanket it all under 1 name.

I agree that my generated MMORPG/forum handle is somewhat cool, but definitely trying for psych sort of stuff so I dismissed the idea a while back for reasons others pointed out.

I think my name allows me to change sounds and go with the flow, just worried a lot of people would think it's country or R&B or something haha

Definition wise, I guess my last name is pretty decent. Either means Grass or Hiding Place- to me it's means kooky Irish folk though hahaha

Use Darnell as your first name then make up a last name. That way its still you and you can create more of a focused aesthetic with whatever you use for the last name.

I go under fcknoise when I do solo stuff. It comfy having a name that you relate to a certain style or sound, it kinda helps me get started easier.

Ok so I'm late to this.. but and so and whatnot: The name I use - Koori Kuma is Japanese for Ice Bear, the original idea was to use the name Ice Bear but after googling I found too much to do with snow-mobiles and possibly hockey which were not things I wanted mixed up with what I am doing so I decided on Koori Kuma which has the benefit of being able to be read by anyone that can read Japanese or Chinese - 氷熊
