Yeah, I suppose.
I mean, I'm not gonna go out and (illegally) download the music he's done out of spite.
But I'm not gonna buy it either.
Or go to and pay to go to shows that he'd profit from.
Basically, I'll listen to the music on Youtube/streaming sites, but I'd rather avoid buying something he'll actually make money off of (as opposed to your scenario of buying something that someone who's been dead for 20 years wrote).
I can find a dozen incredible artists who are still alive (and abhorrent) if you want, Burroughs had already made an appearance so it was a natural example.

I didn't read the article because I don't care at all about chris brown, but I don't ever want someone to point a gun at me. It's happened a few times and I sincerely hope it never happens again.
Of course not, who would?I am just saying if I am in my house I should have the right to point a gun at someone if I want to. Now, if I went to someone's house a pointed a gun at them, that is a totally different story. I don't approve of that in the slightest.
Would I have to own the house, or should I have the right to point a gun at people if I want to, if I rent the house?
And what if actually, the bank owns the house? Can those bank people come by for tea and then point a gun to my head if they want to?
jwar wrote:Also owning a gun does not give you the right to point it at someone regardless of if it's in your home or not
I know, and that's fucked up as I said earlier.

This is some kind of joke, I hope, or you must certainly agree that everyone should have the right to threaten other people with a knife in their own house as well.
Yes, I agree.

Everyone else is able to comprehend what "in their own home" means in this context, so I am curious as to why you are having such a difficult time with it. Unless you are just trying to derail the thread with some sort of circular semantic logic. indeed.

That's a blatant false dichotomy and you know it.
There is a lot of distance between "not necessarily a saint" and "woman-beating piece of shit who holds his gf hostage in an armed standoff with police.
The problem with sarcasm on the internet is that it's hard to detect sometimes. I've been known to be sarcastic and people jump at me for it and didn't understand what I meant. So apologies Nora. I didn't think that was really your position, at least I hoped it wasn't.

I actually think you're misunderstanding her last post, not failing to read sarcasm in her previous one. I could be wrong, but I think she's saying that it's fucked up that people don't have the right to point a gun at someone in their own home because they should have that right and just aren't being afforded it.

I think she's just trying to be argumentative to make some asinine point that no one else will get unless elaborated. Meaning, it's my home and I ought to be able to do whatever I want in my home. Which is not true and it's not fucked. We have these things in place called laws, and they are there for a good reason. Not all laws are perfect, I'll admit that, but a lot of them are to protect us from nut jobs that would do stupid shit for the sake of doing stupid shit.
