Inversely, I haven't used it with and MIDI gear, but it works great for my euro-synth-and-drums setup!popvulture wrote:I fucking love my BSP. It'll likely see the other side of the door once I go full Monome, but for the time being it works really well...

God damn it I'm buying the next cheap BSP I can find. I've been dicking around on not purchasing it for way too long now. Probably because I've read so many polarizing reviews (nothing in the middle, either huge love or dire hate for the thing)

I read many of those same reviews. A lot of the consternation seemed to come from folks having issues syncing MIDI to CV or vice-versa. I'm not tryna do that, soooo...

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
One thing I'm not sure about with the BSP when used over CV is that it may not be able to transmit velocity. Being a total modular noob though, I don't know if that's something you can even do at all.
I know Psychic Vampire used a BSP over CV to control a Vermona DRM1. With that particular box, you can transmit accent information over MIDI but not CV... like I said, not sure if that's something that has to do with the BSP itself, or CV in general.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Well found one for a good price so hopefully the person respond to me soon cause I want it.
Got my Basimilus Iteritas from user Nevada today. Plug that into the Rings, and then use the outs of the Befaco Rampage to make the most fucked up acid trip ever. I found so many insane sounds messing with the Rampage. Rampage is a 10/10 module, I've connected with it so much more than my Maths. Oh yea, the Batumi is the tits.

The Erica module I was talking about can actually be heard in this video : a 3HP Spin FV-1 based DSP module with dry/wet control, 2 parameters per effect and one CV input.

I really want that Pico drum module though but it's out of stock everywhere and then some.

I think I've hit a wall with how I want to finish my Happy Ending kit.
Talked to ST about this a little bit but I'm still in a rut.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Interesting that i happened to look again at this thread on the page where the BSP and Vermona are mentioned.
The BSP was used to control a Microbrute and (briefly) a Mother 32 over CV, along with the DRM1 mkIII and the Bass Station II over MIDI. You can control the Vermona over CV, but you lose velocity control, which is a shame. But the Beatstep Pro was one of the easier, nicer Sequencers i've used in my short life. It connected to things in a sort of easy/obvious way, and all of its layout felt logical. If i'd decided i was going to stick around in modular as my main thing, i probably would have kept the BSP as my central hub and moved from there. Everyone here should get a BSP. Also, how is modular treating y'all?

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Well the problem is that I really love using it (and Eurorack) as a sound source (or a source modifier -- one thing I know I need is a mixer), but since I do most of my sound design in Ableton a lot of the 'usual suspects' regarding "what you need to make a rack" don't really apply?

It is killing me that I can't afford to jam up a couple small cases with weird shit. I get it. I just wanted to call you a completionist because is such a bewilderingly poor insult.
The Manhattan Analog mixer looks and sounds good...but I don't understand why more mixers don't have cv over...the mix? Like, that seems really obvious but it not always implemented.
