I got to play the original one a few months ago and holy shit, the filter makes it sound massive. Kurt explained that he got the idea from some old MA hardcore band called Sam Black Church. The guitarist used some old EHX pedal with a fixed phase function on top of an HM-2 to get this nasty, snarling tone with a pronounced notch effect. I dig it.
