Sounds like a collab set needs to be done.

Would do. By the time this meetup rolls around, my setup will likely be Octatrack, Bass Station II, Blofeld, and maybe (god willing, my car not turning into a brick) a Nord Drum 2. You mostly do modular stuff and tons of pedals, right? Fun shit could happen, and i want to collaborate more.

I haven't integrated pedals as much into my modular as I like. It'll definitely start happening though. This video is where my rack is right now though.

I imagine I'd have to fly out west to do this so it'll be fun to logistically figure out how to bring this on a plane without people thinking its a bomb

Well, just so people are aware, airlines are required to let you bring musical instruments as carry on, since musicians can claim they are part of their livelihood. I've also heard some contemporary psytrance done with modular stuff (primarily Make Noise, if i remember correctly) that was amazing. Also, how does that Anushri treat you?

I don't use the Anushri at all sadly. It was really cool at first but the more modular built the less I use it. I've been highly debating selling it so I can build an Ambika.

I was using it a lot for the drum stuff, but with a Basimilus Iteritas and the MI Peaks I don't use that either. Yea, probably dumping it.

Heard. It never really appealed to me because for some reason synth/drum machines in one box scare me away (except the new new Electribes, you seen those? They finally added Song Mode/Pattern Chaining!) but i've wondered how it actually sounded. The Ambika has always enticed, but it's so expensive for a DIY. But it is like the only modern synth doing what i really want: Digital Wavetable Oscillators into analog filters, fully polyphonic. I want an ESQ-1 in a small tabletop box. I'll probably build a shruthi if it ever comes time to get a second monosynth that isn't the Nord Drum 2 doing its melodic drum sequencing thing.

I mean the Anushri is modeled off the Juno which is the synth I have a total boner for, I've just never gelled with the interface quite like I wanted to. I'll have to check out the new Electribe stuff, always held off cause of no Pattern Chaining type stuff.

I mean yea I guess the Ambika is expensive. Minus the case which I haven't looked into yet, I'm looking at it being ~$360 for the boards and parts (this is 4 voices though, not 6). But considering people sell those things at like $900+ I'm not complaining. It's a freaking DIY Polysynth in a box though and honestly any other good PolySynth is going to cost out of your asshole anyway except for very recent cheap and good options.

Also, RE: shipping modular. Is it really that easy? I am vary wary to trust airlines with any sort of instrument.

If it's in a good box or case already, just carry it on. Call the airline ahead of time and say I am a musician, i have synthesizers/electronic instruments/whatever, they need to be carried on with me. As far as i remember, they can't say no. There was some incident with a guy who wasn't allowed to bring a bass or a cello or something as carry on, and it got destroyed in the cargo hold and he had to sue the airline because it was his fucking livelihood. I knew more about this when i was younger/traveling more.

And yeah, the Ambika is gorgeous. If i had slightly more income i'd just make one and quit my complaining. Instead, hello Blofeld.

Yeah just bring it carry on. I had no problems bringing the SOMMS or the Boardweevil to ILFEU, and I just stuck those into my backpack -- which was carry on. Didn't get a second look from anyone except for the second time I went through security at Oslo... after the plane was delayed for like six hours and I had to go back outside to smoke. And even then it was "what's this?" "music equipment." "ok."

IDK if I'd try it with, like, a V1 Drone Commander without calling first, though.

I was set to go last year but had some family shit up come up last minute (doesn't it always?)

Can't travel too far this fall, but I would definitely be down for something within 3-4 hours drive of my house (northwest NJ).
