Blue Shift... Shift (Pitch Shift).
So Hi-Band Flanger would make sens.

But that's my interpretation. :)

Yeah, it could be, but we won't know for sure until Mr. Marshall spills the beans. :snax:

Didn't he swap the chips in the starlight v2 right after release and say it was like the hi band version? Maybe subdecay dudes liked it enough to release it?

Hey, I've some beans here. :!!!:
First, yes I've spent years perfecting my beard trimming skillz. :animal:
Second - the Blueshift is an experiment. Kind of going back to something we did in summers back in 2007-2009. A limited run will be available direct only. We did the same thing with early version of the octasynth, noisebox, early filter designs and a few other things. Basically we want feedback.

Yes, we posted something on facebook a while back. It didn't quite sound right and still needed work. More on that in a moment.

But that's my interpretation. :)
I've owned two HF-2s. The first was one of the first pedals I ever bought. I liked it a lot, but sold it for some reason (don't remember) in the late 90s. I bought another one recently, but it doesn't sound like I remember at all. It may be that my ears have changed over the years. The basic idea is similar though. shorter (256 stage) delay line. The starlight2 uses a 1024 stage delay line. the HF-2 might be a slight inspiration, but it's basically been ongoing since the Starlight v2 release.

possible tl;dr alert:

The starlight2 was initially designed with a 512 delay line, but I didn't bother trying to find a MN3204 source until after finishing the design. I couldn't find them in the quantities we needed. Changing to a 1024 stage required a few changes, and had a similar sound (and seemingly more headroom.) The longer delay line also allowed chorus-ish sounds with the manual and regen knobs turned down.

I tried an MN3209 as well. We had a ton of 3209s left over from quantum starlight. The sweep was limited, which worked for a pedal without a depth knob, but not for the v2. It was also noisier. It smelled like it would need a complete redesign, and still not have the range it needed.

I've gone back to it periodically. Last summer I figured out the noise problem was coming from an incorrect part. I built another one with some tweaks (posted on FB last year) but still wasn't happy. Shortly after that I shot a 10 gauge nail through my finger. (last summer sucked) I could barely guitar for months. (Really it's just been in the last two months that I've close to full motion back)
Now that it's summer again (slow time of year) I've had time to experiment and try things that have been on my mind for a while.

end tl;dr alert-

Yeah, high band flange... sort of. :yay:
Flangeyness goes stratospheric maximus. No chrous sounds tho.

StarLight v2 is still my favorite modulation pedal!
I'm curious about this one.

I read all of that and this was the best part:

Thanks for the info, Brian, I'm liking what I'm hearing about this pedal so far. :snax:

As long as it gets some sick steel drum shit, I'm totally down.

Shit post. You mean like that billion page devi thread last year? :erm:

I used to be pretty active on HCFX before I had kiddos. That place has gone to shit.
TGP is way too rigidly on topic. The P&W crowd and infatuation with bonamassa and the like make me feel like I can't relate to most people there. I'm like a 40 year old teenager and just can't make myself care about jazz fusion or supposedly tasteful rock music.

Brian we are a million times better than Harmony Central. God I hated that place so much.

Also which billion page Devi thread? There have been too many it's hard to tell which one you'd be referring to. ;)

I started posting there back around 2000. It was a pretty cool place at the time and I met a lot of cool people. Even locals when I was up in Seattle.
I've got a lot of great memories for a place that wasn't actually a physical place at all. Whenever MF bought them it wasn't quite the free for all it once was. A couple years later they basically killed it with all the changes.

There was a series of them about a year ago. a couple started okay and then turned in to shit porn. I wish the best for her, but the drama was like a train wreck I couldn't not look at.

Filter
octasynth
noisebox, although I think all the noisebox protos were in plain enclosures.
soul provider
F-bomb

There was a compressor, noise gate and a panner/mixer box, but don't think we bothered selling those. Just got too bored with those to care.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some others.
