That said, Jwar's quote of repoman that made it look like i said that statement did cause me to laugh. Sort of. A little. Giggle? Whatever.
Why did it quote wrong? WTF. LOL!

That is funny though. I giggled too. :)

Also, very inappropriate because of being PC and what not, but seem appropriate in other respects. NWA was ahead of their time. Either that or nothing has changed and never will...

I'm sure a heavily armed culture steeped in millenarian beliefs will be fine.

Did you mean "Millenial" or "Millenarian" bc they're very different?

So relating to the Christian Millenium Doomsday Sects that started popping up before the turn of the millenium in the 10th century? FIRST SHALL BE LAST, LAST SHALL BE FIRST, KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, HERE ON EARTH!

Unless any mention of black-on-black crime is paired with the similar numbers regarding white-on-white (because crime, as it is so often across other aspects of this country, is highly segregated), one is being selective in their outrage and prescription of possible solutions.
Great deals with lordgalvar, filipre, seten, DannDubblewe, PumpkinPieces, backwardsvoyager, DADGBD, jwar, JonnyAngle, dandolin, pd~, Dungus, dminner

From an outsider perspective, you guys are fucked.
You've been fucked in the head for a long time and nobody helped you out or did anything because you were running around at the party drunk and high on whipped cream bulbs with fireworks and to be honest, it was a bit scary considering we were all having afternoon tea and cucumber sandwiches.
It's not your fault though, because some rich guys wanted to enslave the world and do nothing but kick back and watch the cash roll in off your backs.
And they did that, and they were very good at it.
And now you're all realising that you don't like that very much.

I know this because I come from a colony that is still trying to play this experiment out.
Difference is we had a controlled lab to do it in so our violence is covert and the apathy of the populous is high and easy to maintain.
I, for one, salute your efforts to destroy the established authorities, but I'd like to caution that the citizenship needs to be really organised and have something in place to replace the current system.

Thanks, Pope. Murricans can argue all day, but I hoped that some of our bros and sisses from elsewhere could maybe provide some much-needed perspective. We don't have that in abundance (myself included). And when we ignore what everyone else says/thinks, we wind up right back at American exceptionalism (i.e., 'well it's nice that you guys do that in godless Europe/Australia/wherever, but this is AMERICA, and no one fucking tells us what to do.')

Yeah, I mean you've got that going on, and that's a holdover from when you guys Amerexited the UK all those years ago.
Like, "fuck you, queenie, Ima do what I want!"
And that's cool, but also why the rest of us are baffled, because we never got to do that.

Also, we are witnessing the end of nation states and human rights as we have only recently come to know them and the old way of doing things is not compatible.
As a result, nobody likes where we've been, but we can see it's not necessary to live that way anymore, and then on the other hand we can see that where we are going is more of the same, except for EVERYONE.
So trying to carve out a niche in what is nearly a seamless transition without much room for a power vacuum is totally understandable.
It's actually very human.

Exactly. You brought up the Charles Manson Heater Skelter thing, IM said in his post that he "didn't see things cooling down", etc. It's the same through line as the apocalyptic sets that pop up any time the calendar hits three zeros in the year... Seems like it was a fairly sensible leap to me, anyway. :idk:

Give everyone guns, fuel them with a belief that this sort of thing is inevitable and inevitably going to occur in their lifetime, and you get this sort of fucked up stuff. That's what I meant with my comment.

Well, as most people forget, there were a bunch of nerds who talked (well mostly wrote) out ideals and policy and things for a long time before actually pulling the trigger on the revolution.

Also, yes, a weird mixing pot which was full of natural resources for the (fairly forceful) taking.

But hey, everyone wants to believe they exist at some great turning point in history. Most people don't though.
