Being 34...

Post by Jwar »

So this isn't a hey look at me, it's my birthday thread (although it is in fact my birthday). It's a man...what a trip life has been.

I've been reflecting on this year and really the previous as well and trying to grasp what I have accomplished and has been given to me (IE what I'm grateful for).

First I'll talk about the spoils. LOL!

So for my birthday (we celebrated yesterday because I was supposed to be born that day) I got a lot of cool stuff.

The coolest thing was my sister had her third baby last week and I got to see him for the first time yesterday. I don't know about you, but when I hold a baby or sometimes even see a baby, something happens to me. I get all emotional and happy, yet feel like I'm going to cry at the same time. haha. I know right? Tattooed bodybuilder get all emotional like. :) I'm a very emotional personal. I love my family more than anything even through their flaws.

Then my mom bought be a Verellen Meatsmoke pre-amp last week (it'll be here today) and still gave me 150 bucks plus two gift cards! I did NOT expect that at all. I feel so spoiled. On top of that, her and my dad wrote me a card and I shit you not, I had to fight the tears. My dad told me how proud of me he is and my mom did the same. My dad isn't the kind of guy that says things like that. I can count on one hand how many times the words "I love you" came from his mouth and were directed at me. So it was very hard for me. I was so happy.

Then my wife bought me a guitar pedal and a cool ass t-shirt. I didn't expect anything at all from her either. LOL. Again, I'm so fucking spoiled.

My kids all hugged me and told me happy birthday this morning starting with my 3 year old daughter Aaliyah. That melted my heart. I know I'm sappy. I can't help it. :)

Oh and everyone in my family except my ill sister and brother who lives in Manhattan came over to see the baby and celebrate my birthday. It was a great day.

That's it for the birthday goodies and what not.

This last year I have accomplished more than I ever dreamed I could. Again this isn't a brag session, I'm just reflecting on how grateful and blessed I am.

I got certified as a nutritional coach
Became co-owner of a online fitness company (customfitnessconsulting.com)
Dieted down and placed 2nd in my second ever bodybuilding show (this shit still blows me away, I mean being a bodybuilder. I never ever dreamed of that as a kid, it just happened)
I will be celebrating 13 years of marriage in August and 15 years of being together with my beautiful wife Megan
I sold my laser machine, closed Acid Splash Designs, but then have reopened to just have fun (this was huge)
Re-did most of my home
Became a property owner. I now own two rental properties! WTF! LOL! Did not see that coming in my life!!
Again, got to see my sister baby. I love babies. I can't help it.
Got to see my daughter Addison's face light up as I handed her my 2nd place medal and told her it's hers to keep
Got out of all my major debt and consolidated it to one loan (this was HUGE!!!) I had about 40k in CC debt and was able to get it all on one low payment
My dad was cleared for the 4th year in a row of cancer
My mom and grandma had a scare with possible death and both survived and are fine now

Lots of other great stuff happened, I just can't recall it all right now. But this year was fucking amazing so far. I know things could take a turn South, but it's ok. I'm happy. I'm content. I am blessed and grateful.

So, I'm expecting to continue this way. Just being happy and grateful. I could lose all the material stuff and still be happy. I don't care about that. It's fun sure, but it's not what I need or who I am.

I just wanted to share my thoughts. Love you guys. :)

I fucking love you jwar. Whenever I try to explain the subtleties of having an internet family you're always the first person I mention. Assumedly because you have the most colorful (and occasionally turbulent) personality. I'm really glad things are going so well for you.
