It seems like it's only a matter of time before OBNE and Alexander end up accidentally making the exact same pedal.

What I could hear of the Monde sounded pretty good. :idk:

I think it sounds pretty interesting. I like the clip from their Instagram I posted a few pages back. You can hear the tremolo effect looped with that octave multiplier thing and it sounds pretty rad.

I think the whole discussion about the components is silly. Who cares if they're using EVERY internal component to its max as long as it sounds good?

I was really hoping this would have reverse on it (like the Alexander pedal will), since I've really enjoyed the clips I've heard of it so far. Guess I shouldnt have flipped the ct5.

I agree. And, I don't care if they're all using the same chip, or whatever, as long as I like the sound they are giving me.

When they release the same type of pedal (two verbs and two delays) with only three modes each, I care. They could have one verb and one delay and include all the same sounds. It's not about the quality of the sounds (as already mentioned a few pages back), it's about making their customers pay for three modes (twice if you like both delays), when putting all six algorithms in the pedal is as easy as loading them onto the chip.

I think there is some element of not knowing where they are going and what they are doing that has impacted this. I highly doubt that the gents over at OBNE had their growth projected out through the mondegreen when they released the Black Fountain. If they had dropped two pedals at the same time in this fashion, I'd say that is a whole other thing.

Checking out clips now. Sounds pretty.

A black fountain/mondegreen in a single pedal enclosure would be pretty awesome.

Yup, it is definitely a business. And I agree with Peteebee, they probably didn't know what they were going to make. I kinda bet Dr Scientist wishes he could release a new bitquest with entirely new settings. I'd rather have a spin chip pedal from OBNE that's a greatest hits kinda job, with two spin chips that have the same pedal-options, and has most of their line on each chip. I just look at them as though they're normal, single-effect pedals.

No, there's no amp in there - tone fairies and feedback goblins live inside this box.

This is one instance where ignorance is bliss.

1. Buy jolly, candy-like box that makes great sound for surprisingly low price.
2. Buy second jolly, candy-like box that makes great sound for surprisingly low price.
3. Place them in the spot of your chain that you want.
4. Live blissfully unaware of what chip was used and what other capabilities the pedal maker could have included that would have landlocked those capabilities to one location in your chain.
All the pedals...the jolly, candy-like pedals...

You, uh, gonna be selling your pedals through Prymaxe any time soon?

point being that 'being a business' may or may not absolve a company (any company) from critique.
