Re: DEEP HOUSE DISH
Either thread title too specific, or people don't like electronic music in here.
The first time i heard someone say EDM I thought they said EBM and got way pumped that this person might be into Front 242 and Clock DVA and shit.

They weren't, they liked Dubstep or whatever kids cared about back then. I don't know, bullshit, let's say.

Re: DEEP HOUSE DISH
Ugh yeah when I first heard that term I had sort of the same reaction... "Ooh what's that?" followed pretty quickly like "Oh noooooo."
I wasn't particularly expecting a big reaction to this thread—I've never really gotten the impression that people here are into more danceable electronic stuff. I guess that's the description I'm looking for... beat driven would work too. I've noticed that people seem to prefer a bit more of the ambient / noise / industrial varieties. I could be wrong though!
Like I said in the OP, I couldn't resist being silly with the title and referencing the SNL skit. Deep House is fucking fantastic though...

Hell yes! I love both of those bands. I'd say HF almost belong in a genre of their own.
Been meaning to pick up that Four Tet Pink reissue... that's a particular fave of mine.

Of course! Love that guy. I mean, he's pretty much the birth of Minimal. And still makes good stuff!Chuckchuck wrote:Techno/house grampa Richie Hawtin--made his own gear with his dad. Have to love him just for that.

Re: DEEP HOUSE DISH
For some reason I totally missed this thread. I'm super in love with Japanese EDM/Techno/What not
Eve Hates Me is the newest person I've found. Dude is fucking insanely talented. 蠱 (maji) is a phenomenal album.
More IDM, but Effe's Visible/Invisible might be one of my most listened to albums the past two years.

free download from label here: http://bunkai-kei.com/release/bk-k_040/
DJ Obake is the solo project of the beat dude for Her Ghost Friend. His album on Zoom Lens is top tier.
There are 3 music circles from Japan that I'm super into.
Quadrophenia always puts out top tier shit.
I just found out about Lost Garden. Pretty trance-y but I can't stop listening to them.

And then there is ふんわりちゃん (Funwari-chan), my most favorite IDM circle from Japan.

Cool I'll check this out! Being a big Japanophile, have you gotten into the netlabel stuff? I read a little bit about that scene a year or so ago and heard some cool tracks. I remember there was a LOT though and I definitely found it a bit daunting.

Re: DEEP HOUSE DISH
I know of a few netlabels but I really just look for what stuff sells hot at Comiket and other Doujinshi events.

Granted this article's a year and a half old at this point, I still thought it was pretty great. The rare non-shitty, informative offering from Pfork:
