As an Englishman who no longer lives there, I'm enormously disappointed and upset. Everything I was proud of in England will be dissolving soon. I'm glad I got out when I did, but oh boy am I embarrassed for the whole thing. Sell yer gold and buy everything from England at least!

Also remember though, that the public vote isn't decisive and that Parliament can still say "Fuck democracy when you're all idiots.".
I would hope that the plummeting sterling would be sufficient reason for them to overrule and remain.

What an utterly grim day.

The Leave campaign was essentially the "dey terk our jerrrbs" scene from South Park. It played up to the closet racists in the working class who constantly feel threatened, and the unemployed who don't actively look for work who have already conceded defeat to the job-stealing immigrants, as a convenient excuse for having no sense of responsibility. That's the ticket. That's the demographic you want to have by the balls. The stupid demographic.

I recently moved away from Scotland for family reasons. A very vibrant, progressive part of the country, which unsurprisingly voted to stay in the EU in every constituency. I'm now in the South of England, and the difference in political climate is stark. Down here, there's a "Let's take our country back!" picket in every garden. Take it back from who? And give it to who? That warbling fuckwit Boris? The poisonous shithead Gove? Fuck sake.

The northern racists and the southern public school toffs have been duped. The former are going to be ruined by the poor getting poorer, the latter less so, but fuck them as well.

Holy .... I really didn't think it would actually happen.

It just seems so messy with Scotland and all.

As someone thinking about moving to the UK fairly soon, that drop in the pound is selfishly really helpful.

Well time to move back to Scotland then cause who knows when they'll vote to succeed from the UK and rejoin the EU. (Fairly soon is my guess)

I mean Scotland voted super heavily to remain part of the EU, I think it was like 70/30. I'd be really surprised if they didn't but maybe I'm being too reactionary right now. I'm still shocked it even came to this.

edit: was actually 62/38

Oh no I was talking about the 'soon' aspect of it. I think they'll almost certainly have a second vote for independence but it may not happen until after this two year quagmire we'll all be privy to.

On the other hand the dickheads that be will finally get to abolish NHS now, just like they always wanted. :grumpy:

A lot of talk this morning that a Scottish IndyRef could happen this year, though no idea how true any of it is. Hard to tell what is reactive bullshit and what is truth today.

Regardless. It would be a landslide Yes vote this time, absolute certainty. Anyone who was on the fence voted No in 2014. There'll be no fencesitters now. The General Election and now the EU Referendum where Scotland categorically voted entirely against what the final outcome ended up being is concrete evidence that Scotland is on a completely different political wavelength to England and Wales, and rightly needs to leave.

Scotland has been lightyears ahead of the rest of the UK for a long time in terms of its governance. It should have pissed off years ago.

Fuck England. Not the English, not individual people, many of whom are my family and friends, but the country and the government. Fuck them.
