More specifically, i meant there is no difference between those three chips in the sense that they are kind of specific things that a lot of different builders have done "their take" on but the result is a few really interesting and different things, and a lot of same-y things. You know?vidret wrote:i'm no builder, but i'm pretty sure they're pretty fucking different.psychic vampire wrote: First of all, abstractly, i agree there is little difference between a Spin Chip and a Belton Brick or a PT2399. I might think certain chips have better innate sounds, but they all amount to similar things.
the pt2399 is a low millisecond, built for karaoke-echo delay chip. oftentimes filtered and made to work in a longer range (and sounding a bit "broken" because of it. we like it).
the spin fv-1 chip is one that runs up to 8 different effects/programs - the different effects don't have to be similar whatsoever.
I thought the particle was a spin chip but i wasn't sure. it'd sure be fun to stick the LFO delay mode into the bitquest
Haven't I already been on this crusade? you guys are late.

LG gets it. I think the Arpanoid begs to be pushed and used in specifically "un-musical" setups and contexts and setups, and would probably start to create some gorgeous sounds when you used it like that, and less as something to generate specific melodies or arpeggios in key. If you want that, get a Timebender and a Pitch Factor and have a field day? (Or a sequencer and a synth).lordgalvar wrote:Use the arpanoid on a drone with a rocktron talk box.
Or arpanoid to miku.
Feedback loop it.
Put an Arpanoid into a Timebender, put the arpanoid into some envelope sensitive modulation or some shit, let it be its own freak.

Haha I like all the suggestions. Wish I had a ct5 to try with it.
Using it at a fast speed in quick bursts is a good idea. Wish it had a soft touch switch. To my ears the effect gets old fast. It literally just pitch shifts everything up and down the major/minor scale. The random mode is the only mode I've been moderately inspired by, but the Timebender has a random mode too that's way more flexible, IMO.
I don't think I've tried running it through the Timebender. I'll try that and some of the other suggestions and see what happens. Thanks!

Same here. Only had their Haunt fuzz, sold it really quick. Nasal, fizzy, noisy, no low end what so ever...Basically like a meh version of the fuzz factoryD.o.S. wrote:For what it's worth that's exactly how I feel about them, too.
Might've been impressed if there weren't a bazillion other fuzz peds out there doing the same thing, only a lot better
Having said that...I'm always in the market for another delay pedal. I'll have to keep an eye on this one, the tone control and mystery jack input are making me kinda curious, not to mension the purty art work...

Have seen that video before. It was cool, if i remember correctly. I like the hippie dude who plays a Prophet 5 with her in some of her videos.

Word man. I totally love pitch shifting after a static or continuous sound source. Always so cool.

Sounds like a smother more ethereal version of my most common Ct5 mode 1 settings. Not a replacement by any means, but that was my first impression.

I kinda immediately thought it sounded like a shimmer verb before realizing they had a Procession in front of it (#whoopslolisuckdicks), but on its own it reminded me of the Boss PS-3, or that style of delay, but that it keeps each previous octave in the repeats with it seems really cool. I kind of hope it's tune-able, or guess i wonder what the morph knob does in that mode.
