Oh shit y'all it's a TEA THREAD.
I'm drinking a cup of oolong right now and it's delicious as fuck. Having kinda burned myself out on coffee a little, tea's a pretty damn refreshing departure.
Faves: oolong, pu-erh, lapsang souchong, PG Tips, Barry's (the latter two esp with milk + sugar, which is unthinkable for me in the coffee zone).
ILF tea talk time.

See, that packaging alone makes me extremely happy.

If you ever find yourself in a position to try Tung Ting or Dong Ding oolong, you must. It tastes like flowery, citrusy heaven and makes the best iced tea. Second steeping is best.
Sunflower Jasmine is my everyday, though.

Yeah, I like tea almost as much as coffee.
Lately I've been drinking more of the regular Yorkshire tea. (I'm too poor to drink the Gold with any regularity.)
I also
Mo' Rockin' Mint.

Will do! Right now I've got some Da Hong Pao, Dan Gui (which is sort of like the former but a little more complex/interesting), and a lighter kind called Fragrant Yellow Sprig. It's crazy to me how much range there is in one genre of tea, and I've really only just begun to scratch the surface.oldangelmidnight wrote:If you ever find yourself in a position to try Tung Ting or Dong Ding oolong, you must. Ooh nice... yeah I could definitely find this very useful.Chankgeez wrote:http://ratetea.com
Side note: I did go down a tea rabbit hole online once and lurked for a minute on a tea forum. It was... weird.

Pu erh tea is the best. It's like tea and coffee had a baby and it's just soothing.

Love tea. I'm mostly an oolong guy. I mostly drink ti kwan yin because it's free from work, but I'm always trying interesting stuff when I'm out and about. Makes me sad how weak most places tea menus are.

Re: Oh shit y'all it's a TEA THREAD.
Back when I was too poor to eat lunch in Seattle, I used to go to Vital-T Leaf on the edge of Pike Place Market. I used to just sit there because they would do free tea tasting. One day, the owner of the place sat near me sent the instructed his daughter to serve me their super fancy tea. She told me she was jealous because he never let her even try it. I tried to thank him, but he spoke no English. I shared the pot of it with the old man in silence, nodded, and made my way out. No real nice end to the story, but that tea shop is the one place I always go to when I go home and visit Seattle. I always take a day to avoid the family, drive to Pike Place, drink some tea in peace, and then go look for pretty views. I always buy a lot of tea to take with me now that I can afford it.
That's the only real experience I've had around tea, and that's how I ended up getting in to tea.
[edit] Here's the tea we drank and that I will likely never drink again. So damn good. https://vitaltealeaf.net/index.php/prem ... -4-oz.html

So I take it by your description of pu erh that you like the darker / fermented kind? I need to try it again... I thought it tasted super interesting but I couldn't drink a whole cup of it. I once read it described as "forest floor," which I thought was just about one of the most apt comparisons I've ever heard. I've been a wuss and stuck to the sheng

Yeah, I like the old fermented kind. It gets better with each pot you make. You're supposed to use the same stuff for multiple pots to get the full taste. But I rarely drink enough to get to that point. My tea person used to make fun of me and said I had the taste of an old woman for drinking that stuff.popvulture wrote:So I take it by your description of pu erh that you like the darker / fermented kind? My nose is pretty useless with a lot of smells, which may contribute to my liking of stronger flavored things.

Im down with any sort of mint, ginger, or cinnamon tea. & while Yogi has a brand platform im pretty meh on, their Egyptian Licorice tea is fucking amazing. I dont know how else to describe it except for having a very bold, round sweetness. Mmm.
