There is so much alternate firmware that I need to install and try out. I just really like all the base modules already so I never really bother with the alternate firmware
Yeah, Peaks already has a ton of functionalities. I haven't even properly used a few of them yet (the trigger delay for example).

I found Peaks actually did too much. I never really ended up using it. I ended up selling it

Yeah I can see that happening haha. But even if you get it for just one function it's worth it! I ended up using a pair to cover my drum sounds.

The tempo lfo being able to learn irregular rhythms is some sort of magic as well.

Yeah, Olivier has said himself that his modules aren't created with multiple modes for someone to use all the modes all the time, but more so for different people to find the one or two modes that they like best.

Peaks just didn't do it for me. I make my own drums usually with Ieaskul modules + LPGs and Maths. I never really used the envelops or sequencer. The modes in Peaks that I don't really have anywhere else is the trigger repeater/probabilistic trigger modes, but they weren't enough for me to justify keeping the module.

Yeah I hear ya. I eventually sold my pair (and the rest of my euro haha) but I loved having the fm drum modes as well as the standard 808 drum sounds. And there's not enough cv control to take the place of other dedicated modules but it became so invaluable for me to prototype certain ideas without investing in more expensive stuff. Then if I found that the concept worked, I would look into the more purpose built stuff.

I don't know if I've actually made it clear in here (and I'm not clicking back pages because I'm lazy), I will build shit for you dudes if there is something DIY you want. Minus Mutable DIY. My SMD soldering isn't in a good enough place for that yet, but hopefully later.

But yea, want something DIY'd, message me.

I may well do that.

I am falling less and less in love with the idea of the Rings in my setup: I have enough sonic manipulation at my fingertips that it doesn't seem particularly worthwhile (especially since so much of my modular setup is geared towards external inputs/samples/etc.). Likewise with the LFOs and VCAs, if only because I tend to manipulate things with my hands/external interfaces.

That's potentially 28hp of space, and I don't know exactly what I should do with it? Ideas?

Man, Mutable Instruments keeps killing it. Their new Quad VCA is everything I could've wanted.

I can agree with that, the Rings is producing sounds on its own. What you can do is dump the simpler LFO in favor of the Xaoc Batumi, that'll give you a lot more complexity in the LFO department for only double the HP of that PM one.

Do you have an external sequencer you plan on using? Adding someway to further fuck with the sounds you put in it. Maybe some bullshit granular style device instead.

No sequencer planned at the moment, since this is very much a "live into interface as one long bit of noodling, take the good bits and use them for pieces later" rig at the moment. Plus I'm still suffering from a lack of cables.

Well if possible with the HP space you have left over, get a Sequencer and a Crossfader and continuously shift back and forth between your "fucked up by modular" sounds and "fucked up by modular + a sequencer" sounds and then just shift your fader all the way to the no sequencer side when you don't want to use it.

Also I think I've mentioned these before, but this cable set is pretty tight. I bought it recently and I love them and the braided bag it came with.
