I'm looking for something tablet-like that will double as a little computer for internet use, maybe some video streaming, and to read digital books on. If it happens to be good enough to run a bit of music software on too, that would be an awesome bonus. I'm also looking for something on the cheaper/affordable side...
suggestions?
any devices I should avoid?
Best bang for the buck?
I've really enjoyed my iPad in terms of just overall easy experience, cool apps available (including many of the music production variety), excellent graphics.
Not exactly super cheap, though, but then again I don't know what the general standard is in the tablet market. Not sure if something like an average iPad Air (starting at $399) would be considered expensive or not.

I have the $50 Fire. It's okay. It does all that stuff, pretty much. I had to hack it to get Instagram, through Google Play, though. Also, I've never tried any music creation apps on it. It is my first tablet, that was given to me as a gift, but it's fine. The only thing I really wish for is a bigger screen.

^^^ That's sort of what I had in mind. I might ditch comcast's internet later this summer, since I might be changing up my job situation, and I'd need something other than a smartphone to use when I go someplace for internet.
The only thing that makes me hesitate is that everyone I know who has used windows 8 hates it..... and while I love the idea of freeware, I'm not sure I'll have the time/energy to learn all that shit. . . unless it's way easier than I'm guessing
