Didn't have teh internetz at home while growing up, so didn't have regular access until I was thirteen or something. Sorta happy about that.

Joined GitarNorge in 2006, which is basically Norwegian TGP, just with more metalheads. It was pretty fun back in the day though, with less mods and political correctness. Think I'm still one of the all time top posters over there, but now I mainly use it for the BST. I joined before most of the peeps who run the place these days. Got banned at some point, and while it was lifted pretty quick it left a bad taste, which led to me not spending time in online communities, save for lurking Prog Archives (which I still do now and then).

Then I came upon ILF, as it always seemed to come up when I googled for pedals I found interesting. After lurking for a while, I joined. Basically like coming home. Luv ya.

Hahah, you almost make me feel old :).
The first internet access I got was at my engineering school (mid-late 90's), I only got a connection at home when I got my first own apartment a few years later... :poke:

And he was never seen again....

Got a computer round 2002 I think? didn't really give a fuck about the internet till I discovered flash games. Forum type shit happened much later once I learned what 4chan was. So I suppose the order is:

4chan
Reddit
ILF

I hardly ever post to reddit unless its for shameless self promotion/the Smash Bros subreddit. And 4chan is for shitposting. Most of my time is spent here lurking, commenting where necessary. :excellent:

I used to hang out at Gothic.net, a real interesting underground horror literature webzine/forum, early 2000s. Some good reads there, like City of Apocrypha, a series I remember fondly, and there was an eclectic mix of cool people, some of whom I am still in contact with (mostly Americans). Then those boards kinds dissolved and there was drama with new owners, etc. A group (including me) took off and someone set up a new forum called Global Gothic, where I was the music mod for some years before that too fell by the wayside. It was good to know and talk with other weirdos around the world and I did miss it after it ended.

After that I've had half a decade away from posting/conversing on the internet apart from random chats on Soulseek or Last.fm. Glad to have found this place, although posting in forums has actually always felt a bit nerve-wracking to me for some reason.. like my social anxiety even extends to that realm, which I guess is par for the course.

Until high growing up my family's Internet was supplied through and monitored by Xerox because it was for my dad's work. After he retired and we got regular Internet I was a part of some gear groups on MySpace. Weird little aside but I used to talk to a lot of those 10+ string bass dudes like Jean Baudin despite being like 12? After that I was a poster on theb9, a hardcore/punk message board that has a huge guitar gear thread. After a few years of that I got redirected here by some posters over there and have loved it since. I also posted on talkbass for a week but we don't need to talk about that.

I'm horrible with years but I've had internet access for as long as I can remember. Cut my teeth on MSN Messenger trying to get girls from other small towns to date me. Had a brief stint with xanga before switching to MySpace, and regrettably signed up for Facebook when I moved to a new school. Instagram yadda yadda.

Forumwise I hung out at guitargeek and transferred over to Harmony Central during the beginning of the boutique revolution, I remember being so jealous of everyone that could afford a Fulldrive AND a DL4. Went to TGP very briefly when they HC became the flaming pile of shit it is today. I forgot about guitar forums for a while and started using OffsetGuitars when I had a computer job, which led me here. Then I said fuck OSG and never went back. Jk, I would still hang out there if they had a better mobile layout. The community is pretty decent, albeit a bit pedestrian. It's refreshing to post a board and be the cool guy with the rare pedals :excellent:

I go on Madbean sometimes for build related shit, but haven't been back in a while. You are all I need ILF.

Some of these posts make me feel super old, but some of you are taking me back to the very beginning, haha... the mention of a 486 really cracked me up.

First computer was a Commodore 64 in the mid 80s. Used to play Star Wars, BC's Quest for Tires and Rescue on Fractalus!

Architect dad eventually got a 486 to run AutoCAD and I got pretty obsessed with all of the Sierra games of the time. My friend's dad had a copy of Leisure Suit Larry, which of course was a bit of a holy grail in our early porn-seeking careers. Tons of other games—now I want to remember more of them.

This was all pre internet, but we got tons of shit off of local BBSs, etc. via 9600 modem. This was probably around the time we started smoking and thinking we were badasses, perusing our downloaded copies Anarchist Cookbook and ordering random shit that looked cool from the SST catalog.

But yep, eventually 14.4 modems, early internet via super crude Netscape Navigator. Memoriiiiiiies.

I've been snipelfritz since like 2003. I've been on numerous forums throughout the years. A LOTR one, Legendary Frog's site, spent a lot of time on a civilization forum when I played that game a bunch, a Battle for Middle Earth one, ultimate guitar for a long time and this one here.
