Apple Music is terrifying

Post by CyaNitrate »

This shit is crazy.

https://blog.vellumatlanta.com/2016/05/ ... seriously/

As we're all musicians, the part about taking/deleting personally created music is especially troubling.

Read about that earlier.
I still haven't signed up for Apple Music and haven't made any plans to change.
I also will not upload my locally stored media to cloud servers where a gatekeeping entity *allows* me to access my stuff. MY stuff.

Nope.

well… say you own a apple computer and various iThings… you cannot remove iTunes… I have tried… but this is why I refuse to update my os [past the cat era] and don't think my next computer will be a apple. Lets face it apple has sucked a bit more every year since OSX came out when they got rid of their original architecture. they have become more parasite like every new version… and that should be window's jobb…

The most important thing to remember with using any apple product made in the last five years is before you do anything you have to turn all that automatic crap off as well as the automatic file copying redundancy….

Yeah, I've never trusted cloud-based things except for backups of small amounts of data. And Apple has slowly morphed from a company that did a fair amount of interesting stuff to a gigantic pile of meh at best.

Reptilian business strategy.

Yeah I didn't like the idea of Apple Music when it was first a thing, but fuck this.
I'm surprised my phone is even letting me view this content.

Yeah, I use a Mac too. I never used Itunes. I don't have a iphone anymore, so that would be the only reason I'd use it. And I keep my music on an external drive.

I agree with others, and I don't trust, or use, cloud based stuff.

on the plus side I saw this coming and did an album themed around the overreach of the seduction of over reliance on the convenience of clouding..

While I'm a big Apple whore (mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple watch) I said "no" on their Apple music, even though it's the first thing that comes up (annoyingly) when I use the music app on my phone.

Then again, I don't stream music, I buy music.

Doesn't seem to make a difference upon a reading of the article.
