I think amnesiac is a better produced album than kid a. However, I think Kid A was a dramatic turning point for the band. More so than any of their other albums. I credit Kid A with generating my interest in synths and effects.

It'd be interesting to see what people would think of Kid A if it came somewhere else in their discography, but since it is where it is, it'll always be viewed as much more significant than Amnesiac.

PS have y'all seen the little teaser clips that have emerged? Cool, but nothing remotely revealing in terms of music.

As someone who didn't really dive into Radiohead's discography in any serious detail until HHttT, Kid A is probably the best, even if it's mostly just refried Warp worship (if you really want to be a pessimistic cock-knocker).

And speaking of Kid A, it's funny to see that they're sort of doing blips again.

I teach various motion graphics courses here in Austin. The final for my typography class is inspired by the Kid A blips—the students pick their own artist/album and make mini ads using experimental type. It's pretty fun that I happen to be teaching the class again this semester and it's dovetailing with what the band's doing. :)*

I'm convinced that more people would love HTTT if a few songs were cut and the production was a little better. Even as is though, it's always near the top for me.

I love HttT. I feel like the record's a bit of a red headed stepchild, because even when it came out Thom was apologizing for it being "not experimental enough." That said, I was really happy to hear some of the slightly rockier bits creep back in.

This song is excellent, and the video in particular has always been a fave of mine:

Well now I've been primed.

First impressions:
Intro sounds like Coldplay with some yak worship on synth.

Things get dramatically better at the minute mark. I really like the riff they're burying in the background there. Nice bassline (also buried) pops up.

Don't know how I feel about Johnny "guys I did a soundtrack so I'm totally putting strings on everything now" Greenwood's contributions (most notable at 2:30).

It's better than In Rainbows already. Shame they stopped the song right when it was going to get really good.

God... it's so true, isn't it?
Hahahaha...
Kind of like when people get their first tattoo and every shirt they wear has no sleeves, for the first year...?

Not a bad track, but it didn't really grab me. I am looking forward to hearing the rest of it, though.
