I've still gotta plug the Roland FX for anyone nervous about learning or jumping in...they are tailored quite specifically to transition FXheads like us into modular, and were so easy to learn and fun to use that I made them the (first) heart of my system and got all 4. One is all you need though, then you can start a rack and be able to use any type of module with it. If you're ok with using an ipad or computer like you would with a multi-fx or H9, the amount of modular power you will get out of them is incalculable. Each one comes with a virtual modular mini-system inside, with 30 module types, of which you can use any combo of 6 at once...all you have to do is choose which modules, and patch them up however you like. Demora and Scooper are the best. Instant Raptio and Possessed replacements.

So much happening with my system lately.

I bought a Penrose quantizer, which will be nice to have so I can use my Disting for other things.

I ended up trading my Mutable Peaks for a Sinclastic Empulatrix plus some cash. I really wasn't using Peaks. Like at all. It had so many functions, and I just didn't use any. It kind of turned into the standard multi function saying for me: it does many things, but master of none. The Sinclastic will be cool though. I really like Noise Engineering so I'm excited to try it out.

I also might be selling my Rubicon and Ripples to someone locally, which I will then replace with a Dixie II+ and either a Polaris, Koma SVF201, or 3 Sisters. I can't decide which. I really wasn't using like 90% of the Rubicon (like all the thru-zero stuff), so it makes more sense to have a simpler, smaller oscillator.

And I sold my Fourses. The plan was to replace it with either a Dunst or a Denum, but I can't make up my mind on that either and I keep thinking I should just get both. If I go for the Dixie II+ and Polaris, getting both wouldn't be too bad, so maybe that's how I should make that decision...

I just want the new Thonk Turing Machine V2 to come out so I can build it.

I also really hope I don't fuck up this MI Warps so I can feel confident enough to build the rest of MI's line

Also planning to sell my Maths so I can build a Befaco Rampage.

I want to DIY things so bad. I've bought a few kits (Mikrophonie and Radio Music), but every time I've had them, I just end up having someone build them for me. I have way too little confidence in my soldering skills

Through hole is super duper stupid easy. So easy I can do it. I was worried but my first two builds both ended up perfect so I'm confident in myself now.

Surface Mount is fucking bullshit. Fuck it and everyone involved with it.

Just built up a Gristleizer. Sounds damnnn good. Now if only dealing with EAR was less of a pain in the ass... got two kits, one for a friend and one for me, and both were missing a bunch of parts, ICs were floating loose, kits were sent a week before a build guide existed, and the holes need to be filed or milled to prevent a gap on both sides of the module.

Unfortunate, but you've got two of the ten EAR modulars that will ever be built, so there's that.

Ah, no, I misread. THere's probably 30-40 of them out there.

http://www.endangeredaudioresearch.com/ ... pre-built/
The Gristleizer Eurorack Module, pre-built and ready to be patched in. This is new new circuit Version 3 with a redesigned filter and many new features in 20HP width. We are now accepting pre-orders. We anticipate availability in late February to early March. The first run is a limited quantity so reserve yours now.

The Endangered Audio Research Gristleizer Eurorack module Pre-Order is over! Thank you to all who bought one of our limited-run Gristleizers.

This was the last of EAR’s Gristleizers — that’s right, they’re all gone! We are ceasing our production of The Gristleizer.
