PIZZAAAAA

Post by space6oy »

it's kinda disgusting but now that i'm working nights i'm pretty sure i'm consuming more pizza than any other food.

know we're all in different spots, but what're some of your favorite joints / toppings / styles / whatever?

i've lived in columbus about 6 years now and so far straight up the best i've had has been gatti's.
https://www.facebook.com/pizzacolumbus

but my main source has become cottage inn - partially because they're open until 2:15 and partially because it's a great deal for how good it is, especially when i wanna feed my staff / friends / audience. plus all their toppings are the same price, regardless of their expense.
unfortunately their delivery IS a bit unstable once in a while... they screwed up on me last night delivering to the wrong address then taking an additional 45 min... that and about to hit leftovers is what made me start this.

toppings & styles -
i prefer thin crust. will do deep once in a while (especially if i'm in NY or something), but that's my usual.
flavoring it w/ butter or parmesan or sometimes garlic - pretty sweet.
i don't usually do anything different w/ sauces.
toppings - i was a jalapeno junkie for years, but of late i've laid off on the spice.
pineapple was weird at first but now i fucking love it.
banana peppers, onion, spinach, artichokes, more tomato - all awesome.

yum.

Thin crust slightly sour dough made on the stone. Fresh made sauce with enough garlic and basil to kill a small horse. Fresh veggies, and Italian spicy sausage. The mozzarella that is still packaged in the whey. 8 min at 500+ Fahrenheit.

Just the way my mom makes it . Goddamn perfect.
awesome signature with witty quotes from all you fuckers :)

Thin Italian crust. Tomato and basil. Drizzle of EV olive oil. Touch of black pepper. Perfect.

Sorry, space six oyee. Not even a page deep, and we're badly off the tracks.

Those last few are funny as hell, though.

No we are not, you are just missing the flow of things.

As for my feelings about pizza... I have spent a lot of time trying to make my own, and I feel that I like what is considered a sicilian in terms of crust which is more bready than a NY and not stuffed with crap like a chicagoian... really I don't understand why you wouldn't just get a calzone instead of a chicagoian pizza.. that all said one of my childhood comforts is a spin my mother did on what my school cafeteria at the time was calling a pizza pocket which was a burrito sized tortilla filled with spaghetti sauce.. my mother took the idea and made a casadia with pizza sauce and cheese in it.. TOTAL FRIED GOODNESS :omg:

I'm French, so I'm used to proper Italian pizza :) I do like NY style pizza too, I had some good ones everytime I went there, but the best for me is still a great marinara or margherita with buffalo mozzarella.

I've also probably had more awesome pizza in Tokyo than Paris. Good pizzerias here are just impressive. My favourite place has a special with smoked mozzarella and a cherry tomato sauce that is just wonderful. The pizzaiolo is really, really good too (not one wasted movement when he's preparing a pizza, it's like watching a ballet dancer in a way), and you can see him making the pizza and then cooking it in a big-ass oven right in front of your seat. If any one of you comes to Tokyo, I can give you the address :). Another place I like makes excellent calzone. I had one with white truffle and egg recently (the egg was perfectly cooked inside the calzone, the pizzaiolo there rules too), that thing was so fucking good... :animal:
