Nice setup up though!
Let me know if you're into a Moskwa+cash deal for that Rene.Strange Tales wrote:Well you guys were right, I don't fucking get the Rene at all. Might go with the double Moskwa route.

Yep, same thing but I'm watching it right now and I totally want this.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Yeah that Erica FX is pretty great. Probably going to get one eventually, but not before I see what's next from Roland. Not sure if they're going to annihilate everything, or rein it in a bit...but it's worth it to me to wait and see.
Trogotronic M/669 arrived yesterday. This was my first trog product, and my favorite unboxing experience ever. Quality and class every step of the way. ILLUSTRATED, detailed user manual, color printed on high quality paper, not some buck-99 per thousand sheets crap. Glossy owner's card/certificate. "Analog Audio Ordnance" bumper sticker. Allen wrench with metal washers and fucking BOLTS to rack...the module: shrinkwrapped in a sexual looking way. Heavy as a fucking brick. Big, TOUGH pots that take some effort to turn. Two PCBs, with "Listen to Louis & Bebe" printed on the lower. Boutique done right. I wish everything I owned was this well-made.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I wish all manufacturers could start using pots like that. Weak and wobbly pots are absolutely terrible and a huge pet peeve of mine. I would happily spend a little more on any module to have some quality components. This is probably one of the major reasons I fell out of love with Make Noise and fell in love with Xaoc. My Rene, DPO, MMG, and Rosie all felt a little wobbly (Maths and STO feel alright). I flipped the Rene for two Moskwas and they feel solid. Next I'll be flipping the Rosie for a SewastopolWarpsmasher wrote:Trogotronic M/669 arrived yesterday. This was my first trog product, and my favorite unboxing experience ever. Definitely noticed it on Rosie & Wogglebug, but Pressure Points feels pretty firm, and the Plague Bearer. Dwarfcraft modules also have the TUFF pots. Voltage Memory and Warps are both pretty solid. Rolands are a little wiggly.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Oh yeah I forgot about the Wogglebug. My knobs don't feel wobbly on it but the button is absolutely useless. Half the time I press it, it doesn't even work. I'll be flipping that eventually too I'm sure. Probably for a SSF Ultra Random. Everything else I own is pretty solid. Mutable, Intellijel, Xaoc, Shakmat. Doepfer Wasp has especially tough pots

I really wanted to stay away from integrating a computer into my modular set up for my own reasons, but this seems really cool:

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Yeah, I don't know about these things. It really depends on your workflow I guess. I like things that have as close as possible to a 1 to 1 relationship between interface and features. Makes it much, much easier to use them as instruments for me. That's why I love my Reface YC, everything on this synth can be played directly. And modulars too, obviously

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I have a local buddy that has gone the Expert Sleeprs/Silent Way route. It is cool, everything in his studio syncs, he can get some amazingly complex CV very quickly and easily but it sure isn't for me. Great for rigs that never the house/studio but I want to be able to open my case, plug into a the board and play a set.
An iPad is the limit of what I am willing to add to my rig because the touchscreen is a good interface for the right apps. I got an Odio so I can audio in and out easily from/to the iPad.
