ILF Book Challenge?

If you want an EPIC fantasy series then look no further than Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Eriksson its a 10 book series and each one is a tomb in size. One of the best series ive read but its not for the casual reader he is pretty brutal so if you dont like the first half of the first book atall then you should probably just sack it. If you are enjoying it or feeling curious then keep going it only gets better i promise, according to Wikipedia the whole series is about 3.25 million pages so plenyt to keep you occupied.

Also ANY Brandon Sanderson book is pure gold in terms of reading all of his books are amazing. Way of Kings and Mistborn being the two stand out series.

Honestly, the most epic fantasy for me is Phillip Pulman's His Dark Materials Trilogy. It's YA Lit but it's pretty high-brow YA Lit written by an Oxford professor and draws on ideas about comparative mythology, evolutionary theory, quantum mechanics, etc. First book is good but nothing too too crazy; second a third books completely blow the roof off of it. Ending just about ruined me, it's so bittersweet. Also it has armoured fucking polar bears ripping each other's jaws off and shit, doom as fuck LOL. The movie fucking sucked.

I loved His Dark Materials, it's a good trilogy. Did not like the movie.

That being said, I don't have any concrete plans on what to read this year. I only read books in English, of which there's a decent collection at the local college library. Used to work there while studying, best job ever.

I want to read Butchers new series, I love The Dresden Files.... But hated the Codex Alera series so here's hoping he did better lol

Mwahahaha fuck y'all I read 2-3 books a week on average. 200-300 pages a day, depending on how much other work I have to do. But that is pretty literally my job.

It's good man I enjoyed it, the Codex books I liked the first one but couldn't get into the second so didn't bother.

I definitely enjoyed HDM but to be fucking honest Erickson's Malazan series takes you all over everywhere. Gardens of the Moon wasn't a chore for me but I can understand why people feel that way. Seriously Tehol and Bugg is the best duo. Bridgeburners are so fucking great. Goddamnit. Kalam. Quick Ben. Got me going back.

Erickson got some serious influence from Glen Cook's Black Company series which I also highly recommend. I think I enjoyed Black Company more than Malazan but it's hard to say.

it can be an easy book to put down but i really recommend getting through it.
erikson did the whole iowa writer's workshop thing and is an archaeologist and anthropologist. his world building is awesome.
