I think all we get here in the US is Reissdorf...

There is worse! And Päffgen is only served in their own Brewery plus four or five very traditional places over town. They don't bottle and I like that because it's so stubborn.

phantasmagorovich wrote:It's definitely Päffgen or, if you have to resort to bottled Kölsch then it's Mühlen.
:thumb:

And Mühlen is almost as stubborn, they still use the old construction-worker-bottle.
And they put the best before only 3 months away from the bottling date, so you know you gotz FRESH

I'm not much of a Koelsch drinker to be honest, it's probably the pilsener / lager style that is closest to American Budweiser or festival beer.
Well, anyway, don't want to start that topic, to each their own, and it can be quite nice during summer time.

I don't want to co-opt this thread but does anyone have any recommendations for Munich?

Co-opt away…we can call this the international travel thread…super helpful to connect with ILF'ers. Stoked I may get a chance to meet some folks.

Go to the Glockenbachwerkstatt. Wednesday evening (every week except school holidays) there is Fish'n'Blues, on of the best live events and great food on the cheap. You will meet very nice people there!
There are a lot of traditional brewery houses that are always fun to visit.
So many art galleries...
Best curry wurst: Bergwolf, Fraunhoferstraße 17 (late night crash before the last subway  )
Good and cheap italian: Pasta e Basta, Fraunhoferstraße 19
If you are into (underground) art: Domagpark, 101 ateliers

I'll add Favorit Bar to that Mix as well as Trachtenvogel.
And despite being touristey as fragg, the Biergarten at Chinesischer Turm in the large park, Englischer Garten is a must-visit, I think.

 you're a brave man asking that in a Köln thread...

There were times when i could have answered
"Things to do in Düsseldorf?? Take a train to Köln!! ;) "

but I've mellowed out with age and have actually been to Düsseldorf a few times,
but only ever visiting people, not getting to know the sights/places to be, sorry....
