CMA CGM! This what the new Ben Franklin looks like. It's the second of the newer generation CMA CGM had built in Singapore and I think they are the biggest ever made.

Never let it be said that the French aren't good for something besides whine & cheese.

I just ordered a camera cable. So, soon I'll be able to take & post photographs of all the French motor vehicles that live in my neighborhood.

Re: The Automotive (& other mechanized vehicles) thread
The port stuff piqued my curiosity about largest container ports in the world so I googled-
Port of Los Angeles is largest in the US, it moved 7.8 million containers in 2014 and moves $1.2 billion dollars worth of goods PER DAY. But, it's only 18th largest port.
The largest is the Port of Shanghai, which moved 35 million containers last year. Unreal.

Re: The Automotive (& other mechanized vehicles) thread
I think it was by land mass or something...I dunno, my friend told me it all (his parents are the liason contractors that built terminal island rail and stuff and work with san pedro).
Yea, I knew Shanghai was the largest volume...
Crazy though how much more volume that Chinese one does...geez.
Umm...I have some GT pictures somewhere...I should get out all my car show pics and drag stuff haha...Thing that surprised me about the GT50 is how tiny it is...like it wasn't even as tall as my legs...couldn't fit in it if i tried! haha

Re: The Automotive (& other mechanized vehicles) thread
So, D'arcy, I only managed to snap this one photo before I thought that silly French vehicle caused my camera to malfunction.

I think it turns out that I hopefully only encountered some low light conditions. (It was probably too late in the day.)
I later managed to take a few more photos. Not all of cars though.

Here's the last photo I took:

That one's for sale. Is there any reason, other than the flat tire, that I shouldn't hit that?

That said, you need to ask the following questions:
Are you a patient person?
Do you need the car to run all the time, or or you adaptable to sourcing alternate transport at inconvenient moments?
Does the prospect of turning wrench on a car equate to a turn off?
Do you need the vehicle to haul big stuff like 4x12 cabinets? (it can be done, at least in a fastback, but it's something of a pain in the back)
What's their asking price on it?
Old VWs are cool machines, but it really takes a certain mindset to keep one going reliably, unless you're in the position to just throw money at it.
If you haul gear, I'd recommend type 3 variants or the type 2...
Here's mine:
