I like the ambient sounds I get from the scooper better than any phonogene clips I've come across so far. I think time will prove the two to be closer rivals than is immediately apparent. It took me a while to realize they were even competitors. The phonogene is more complex, but most of the clips I've heard sound like stuff you can do with electribes and kaoss pads, which I assume is the user keeping it simple, not yet over the learning curve maybe. The simplicity of the Rolands is a plus, the different take on granular is nicely done and sounds good, and all the other things I can turn it into make it useful for everyday...and now the CV bridging to pedals just puts it over the top for me. Woggle-whammy-wah, I had it all along and didn't even know it.
I don't get most of the Phonogene clips on the internet, they don't seem to show anything special about it at all. But the fact you can use a gate signal to record, splice and then constantly change the speed and direction, size of the samples, and then constantly start your loop at different spots is just light years ahead of the Roland Scooper.

I look forward to spending a lot of time with that. Originally, I wasn't thinking of getting too much MN stuff but they are great and make a nice system together. I am sure that I will get one or two more bigger-character modules and they won't be MN but with the amount of $ I have to get started with, it really made a lot of sense when I got that bundled price.
I want a phonogene with one of those fm sampling modules and or a bastl grampa. That way I can take a talk show and Fuck it up something fierce. What's the legality of sampling npr?

Besides starting on the sound processing rack (and having a M32 on the way) I ordered a Koma Komplex sequencer yesterday. It won't be ready until February. I was kind of nervous because it is such a beast of a sequencer but it really could tie so much together. It obviously excels at sequencing the sequencer but with the amount of modules in the Fenix II, I need something with a lot of fire power. Luckily the Fenix has 8 3.5mm>Banana convertors in the back plus I have my handy Dirge format jumbler too.
A couple of small support modules for the sound processing rack and I am done for a bit.
The good news is that I crushed some debt. Yes, I will miss the Buchla but no matter what, I still have plenty of fun musical tools to use/explore.

If they can't prove it's what you sampled you're good to go.
Yet another annoying question: Was getting some fun vowel sounds out of my stomps last night, am assuming there are more in depth modular options for this (I know about the Flame but I think that's discontinued and Spaceboy won't sell me his because the world is a cold dark place), any suggestions?
...or for a bit less, Rare Waves Grendel Formant Filter, WMD Micro Hadron Collider, and of course the Bitrazer. Audio Damage has a nice line of effect modules, definitely interested in trying one or two at some point. GrainShift and FreqShift, Dimensions (chorus), etc.

Mutable Instruments Warps has a few Vocoder modes as well. Also the Mannequins Mangrove Formant Oscillator
