Ruiner's Demo Archive - Retro Mechanical Labs 432k rev 2

Post by Ruiner »

Did a quick one to try this whole thing out.

I don't know how to get the audio to sync to the video when cutting snippets so it's just one long take... that'll change when i figure out how to cut both the audio and video at the same time in iMovie (if you know let me know!). Also, it's just a bunch of random notes and stuff... future ones will have a little more substance and emphasis on playing. i think it does a good job at showing different settings and how it sounds though.

What do you guys think?

Sounds gorgeous (& it's now endorsed by UG himself). I dig the sparsity. Lets the pedal really breathe.

Amazing! I actually just joined Instagram and put up an incredibly poor quality little clip of my Limbo II as my first post: https://www.instagram.com/droygbiv

Thanks dudes.... It'll obviously be a lot better when I figure out how to cut it up so its not one long continuous take and just put in the playing parts and the good parts. Also I need to prop the pedal up so the knobs can be read. I did this super quick and all in one take.... I'm going to get much more creative with it as I go.

Gonna redo this one when I get all that stuff sorted out only leaving the intro. Gonna add playin with overdrive and reverb and then a synth section.

wow that arp mode is so cool. your demo was great, much prefer this type of demo with an emphasis on the pedal's different settings rather than on playing. PGS demos go through about three settings in each of their videos which i always find kind of frustrating. keep it up!

Yeah I'm the same way. I want to hear what the pedal actually does. Rarely does someone play it the way I would anyways. I like simple notes and time in between to let it do what it does. Once I learn how to cut out the good parts it'll be condensed to just what you want to hear. Looking forward to doing more.

Yeah, it's the best. Might have jumped the gun a little joining instagram, the little loops are kind of shit and super quiet. Still, pretty sure your video is the only Limbo II demo out there right now!! Good work!

So stoked for the echorec.

Also, what does the In Limbo actually do? In terms of it's biological classification (as it were), that is?

Did you record the audio separate? (sounds good though my earphones). If you did record it separate you can merge the new audio in garageband and export the movie and chop it up in iMovie.

In this video I merged my audio recorded in garageband to my video recorded with a Canon camcorder. While the final editing was done in Adobe Premier, the exported movie file can be chopped up in iMovie if your shooting for something simpler.
.
In garageband with your audio open, select new video track and there should be a pulldown menu; select something like "import video", from there you should be able to match up the audio wavelengths. It helps to have something loud and fast like a clap to synch right at the beginning.
.

.
For this channel I did the recording, shooting, mixing and editing.
.
BTW, that pedal is sex in a metal box! Nice demo! (especially considering it was done with no cuts!)
