Aroma Bit Crusher - Clone of Mooer..??

Post by Faldoe »

I was looking on ebay for a Bit Crushers and found this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/AROMA-AMO-3-Mar ... SwFGNWTW34

Looks like a clone of the Mooer Bit Crusher. Anyone tried these?

Seems like it's potentially a good option for £25!

Also, the labels are actually better. The Mooer Lo-fi (I have one) mixed up labels for bit rate and sample rate. Also, if it's exactly the same thing inside (which is very, very probably the case), the bitrate knob (the small one on the right) is not super useful. Either not much effect or noisy mess. The samplerate works as intended though, and the mix is a nice addition.

Well, actually this specific Mooer is one of the only non-clones they made. It's just a bitrate and samplerate reducer with a mix control. And they managed to fuck up the bitrate reducing part, somehow :).

And that pedal is probably exactly the same inside, from the same assembly line. Just with a different enclosure...

I have the Mooer. It is 'OK'. Fun to play around with, but not as good as other bit crushers.

I hope you report on your findings! I would be interested in potentially using one of these pedals in a feedback loop or with my Superego.

Ah, I see.

I've always been intrigued by cheapo pedals, you could get so many cheap ones for the price of one good one, it probably wouldn't be worth it, but what if it was?

Yeah. After owning a Frantabit and HEXE, and really regretting selling the latter, I don't think I'd be impressed with it enough to satisfy my longing for another HEXE

Yeah I'm thinking all them circuits are all made in the same sweatshop in China, then housed in whatever companies enclosure they need to make up orders for. :idk:
A lot of those cheap pedals are a false economy as far as I'm concerned. Been burned. Never again.
