It does seem there's definitely a bit of stockholm syndrome when it comes what slides for the customer service, though.

Re: Seppuku FX
in the 5 years that Sepukku has been a thing on ILF (they were sold through Fuzzhugger way back, IIRC) I feel like they only started to go full Klon in the last year or so. I blame our loveable newcomers' effusive praises and the increase in shithead lurkers with money to burn (as well as the shithead newcomers and the loveable lurkers), not so much the builder.

Re: Seppuku FX
They are circuit bends aren't they?? Like what original circuits does he have??
Oh and I may be in a minority but I doubt it but for close to 400 bucks I'd expect a bit more than what's given.
I'd love to try one of the expensive ones and be proven completely wrong. Who will loan me one?

IC Water/Digital Water and IC Flanger are circuit bends. Repeater is a VOX Percussion trem with more depth + higher rates. That still still leaves:jwar wrote:They are circuit bends aren't they?? Like what original circuits does he have??

Re: Seppuku FX
like legitimately this was a 4 page thread that turned into 50+ pages of the best gif of all time:

Which is fine but it does sort of explain the modern day phenomenon of a builder still being drooled over after (literally) five years of is he or isn't he actually making pedals or maybe his website doesn't work or maybe he's a Nazi Man from Nazi land, et. al.

Re: Seppuku FX
I'm mostly indifferent. I just think it's funny that you guys showed up to boner-bond over a company that's, you know, been a known entity for a long time. The same way I think it's funny that Black Russians sell for triple digits now. Jwar basically nailed it for those of us who have been here since this thread started (or at least, for me and I assume him as well since, you know, he wrote it) -- it's all after-the-fact hype. As soon as that shit wasn't easy to get a hold of (relatively speaking), everyone started cumming buckets.

I got into pedals 2-3 years ago, so I had never heard of Seppuku before coming here, so what you say might be very much true. I'm all for cumming into containers though. MASON J(W)ARS!

it probably reads kind of harshly but really it's just humor. At least on my end.

For sure. It's all in good fun. I know I'm a huge fanboy hanging from Rhys' privates, preachin' the word of lo-fi glory.

Re: Seppuku FX
Honestly, yea sometimes they go for too much. Sometimes they fly under the radar. I've honestly never bought or sold a Seppuku that was overpriced (except for the DLFO...and yea, I did get caught up in hype a bit...and liquor*). The new prices have ran me off for sure though...but on the used market, I can get them for cheaper than Mr. Black, Strymon, etc (a lot of companies out there) pedals most of the time and I enjoy them a lot more...just can't get attached to one ebay auction...part of the fun is the search really.
But being out of pedals for 8 or 9 years and finding all this stuff that I thought I wanted to try has been fun. I've moved on from a lot of them. Sometimes they fit perfectly for what people want to do, and I trade them the same value I picked them up or less (and I don't pay the inflated prices). Honestly though, my E13 stuff went at way more inflated prices when I sold them and reinvested back into new pedals than these go for (maybe I just hit the market at the right time before I joined ILF and learned some history hahaha)
Some of the price gouging with LAL is way worse and Hirofumi has been building since the 1990s with very few breaks.
The lurkers thing does suck though...I know they've driven up a few auctions...but I guess that is the downside of the open market.
It's all just fun though
*Drunk at a wedding and didn't want to dance, so ordered pedal, haha

Re: Seppuku FX
This makes me want to start a thread about the weirdest place you ordered a pedal from (like where you were, not where the pedal came from).lordgalvar wrote:*Drunk at a wedding and didn't want to dance, so ordered pedal, haha
Mine might be while cooking on like six stove burners at the same time at my old job four years ago.
To stay on topic: Never owned any Seppuku but my opinion on the matter is closer to jwar and D.o.S.' It's weird to me how desirable these are now when I remember the Mind Warp and Repeater getting blown out by Prymaxe like 3-4 years ago. I realize the circuits now are much different but it's just interesting.
Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

Re: Seppuku FX
I didn't know about Seppuku 3-4 years ago, mostly because I didn't care about pedals that much. I'm late to the game and now that I have the 3 pedals I want, I'm starting to stop caring about Seppuku. If he continues to release cool stuff like the EnveLFO though yea I'll buy them.

Re: Seppuku FX
Hahaha I found seppuku on my own with the pitch computer and went from there, as far as I recall there was no real info on ilf about his pedals so I continued to buy them because they sound so good. I'm not sure where the hype is? It's really just me and kent enjoying the sound of a builders pedals and everyone else hating on them.
Edit: oh and pepe and strange tales seem to like their sound too, seems everyone else doesn't have a horse in the race
