So I checked out Death Grips thinking it was going to be doom or something (haha, never heard of em til this thread). It's ok. I don't see it as exceptional but it isn't bad. They are listed as "experiemental" but I don't really see anything that experimental or even that new about them...I dunno...it's alright, nothing that cool or I would buy, but if it was on the radio over imagine dragons, I would be cool with that.

Mind you I know nothing about them other than a few album skims and listening to 5 or 6 songs on the youtubes.

(Sorry, really out of the loop on all the "cool" guy stuff. I catch new 7" records all the time...but sometimes in punk rock land that means that it could take 1-2 years before I can even hear of its existence...but I ain't all over the social media either).

Only "new" album I have so far is Terrible Feelings, but I haven't even played it haha.

haha, yea, or sad Knugen Faller

they had some alright songs early on, but each release gets kinda worse...it's kinda getting over the top bad with the vocals and stuff...i dunno..backwoods was a terrible record

I think they are in Hrulua or whatever too now. (which i think is dude from masshysteri's solo thing...I have that too, but haven't put it on the player :idk: remodels+record players=no good place to play them...will get back to regular listening soon though).

Oh, I just got the new Giuda this morning...looked like it was going to sell out in a day (of preorders)...I know I will love the hell out of that haha. 'Cause roller skating and glam

Hell with it, I'm going to be that guy and add the other 4 new albums I have listened to this year so far

Star Eater, DoS/Phanta, irerror, and ILF Drone Comp

'cause they actually got me to listen to something not 25-40 years old (Ramones started 40 years ago, jeez).

Exactly, like I said, I'm a Björk fan from way back, I just think this one is beautiful sonically, but in terms of writing it's stagnant.

That's probably intentional; it's supposed to be symbolic of her ending her relationship with Matthew Barney, so the feelings of depression and stagnancy are probably very real in her life. It's entirely possible that repeat listens will convince me that the record's better than I thought.

I was pretty excited when it looked like she was gonna collab with James Blake. She's into his stuff so it seemed natural enough. He denied the existence of any collab, though. I'd really like to see her work with SBTRKT, too...

Like, you were a fan of KUKL? Really? You knew of them, but knew nothing of Crass or Flux of Pink Indians? Just wondering man.

+1 to all of this, definitely the anger part

At their most aggressive, it's just beautifully angry, nihilistic, violent music. Like... uh... black metal rap.

You have to turn your brain off and put it in overdrive at the same time LOL

Actually since we talked about Crass waaaaaaaaaay back in the Refused thread, I have come around in a huge way.

You are personally responsible for my becoming a Crass fan.

Holy shit, Stations of the Crass. Love it

I do not know Flux of Pink Indians at all and only know OF Kukl, never actually sought out the music

Are you referring to "from way back"? I meant way back in my life LOL... middle school... late '90s

The bass player from Epileptics/Flux of Pink Indians started the label One little Indian after Flux of Pink Indians disbanded.

Cheers on the Crass though man. I wasn't trying to convert ya, just put them into perspecitve haha. Stations is pretty good...haven't listened to it in forever. The later stuff is ok once every ten years or so (10 notes, Yes sir I will).

Christ is my album though...

FiniTribe is still around? nevermind it was a re-release

I'm not very hard to understand. For a lot of people, punk stopped being interesting in the '90s. For me, that's when it got really interesting. I will always choose the '90s Midwest emo over any other subgenre of punk or indie. It's in my blood.

But I do like a lot of earlier punk records, when people get me into them.

Yeah I think 'experimental' is one of those things that is more or less useless without context -- DG is probably 'experimental' to their (target) audience, but that's kind of like saying Sunn is 'experimental' to the 14 year old who's just discovered Slayer.

I think that experimental tag is getting kind of worn out. But yea, agree with your assessment.

This might be good?: Not out yet though (Nov 20)

(but who knows...always kinda torn on that UK power electronic noise industrial stuff...some of it is really bad and the psuedo fascist crap they pulled early on was lame...but punk is the same way I guess..I don't know.)

reminds me of the cover of the anti-zen edition of the place where the black stars hang:

I don't know the artist but I'm intrigued by the description and totally agree with the trepidation, sometimes shit that sounds great on paper doesn't wind up being that great in practice (kind of like the way I wanted to love the MITB/Brutal Truth splits but couldn't)
