After a series of events I've walked away from my latest project. A few weeks ago a friend told me he stopped by our space to see if I was around, only to find that the padlock on the door was left unlocked (by the drummer who shares our space with us). Fortunately nothing was taken, but I have enough cash tied up in gear that this put me very ill at ease. I tried to convince the guys to get our own space in the springtime but this idea was vetoed because one person didn't want to pay minimal amount of extra cash it would cost.
Seems like compromise is key. Problem is I've faced a veto/inaction by the same guy in response to every step forward I've tried to take (finding time to play, repairing the disintegrated speaker in his cab, fixing his axe, adding another member, getting our own space, and actually taking time to work on new material outside of when we're all rehearsing).
The other difficulty is that as a three piece where you're all friends, if things aren't working with one person but are with the other, it can seem like you're forcing someone to take sides.
So for now I guess I'm buying some microphones and going to see what I can come up with in Logic. It's not exactly what I want to do, but it's surprisingly difficult to find people to play with here.
