Does make me wonder how many of the lads still get the old "Topic Reply Notification" email

Hi. Everyone disappeared. So did I. What happened? I don't have anything that has replaced this. Kinda miss it.

That was weird, I was just browsing as you posted man. I vaguely remember a "First Church of Amplifier Worship" FB group that was full of regulars from here, and facebook amp and pedal dealers like 10 years ago, but there's nothing like this place around anymore I don't think.

I've just never really used facebook much or gotten into those groups. Don't want to. I follow a few of the old folks on insta and have some real life things with a few. Maybe we should just start occasionally posting and see if we can reactivate the gravitational pull. I could use a little more gear nerd space in my life.

Parker!

That plan might just work. Randomly just saw a post about Whores. over on thegearpage and it made me think about the HCFX Doom Room and this thread too since Christian was a fixture on both for a bit.

Let's see if some random pings will build up and get things rolling.

I miss this place too. I never got into Facebook groups but I did spend some time on Reddit trying to find a similar vibe to ILF with no luck. The doom community there is super repetitive and the discussion isnt too deep. On Reddit it seems like people just post to hear the sound of their own voice whether they are informed or not. Its like people heard Electric Wizard once, binge watched the Does it Doom YouTube channel and then spam the place with irrelevant answers to people's questions.

Q: "Please recommend some bands similar to Bell Witch, thanks!"
A: "Yob...you're welcome"

Reddit gear communities are just people playing Pokemon with pedals and showing off.

I miss forums in general but this one specifically.

Anyway, something positive...if you're in the Bay Area...Mammatus is playing Nov 15th. It seems like they will be playing stuff from their first album, which they probably have not done since like 2008 or something. In recent years they have gone more prog/space rock/new age but their first two album are super heavy and far out. Ripping psych rock with huge doom riffs.

If people are posting, I will post too! Although my current relationship with doom is a bit tangential, that could change at any minute, and I remember Ilovedoom people being fun and helpful.

Hopefully, Christian and all are doing okay. Sorry to hear about their drummer’s health. :(

I’d never fucked with a proper FF before as they are so easy to build. But I had to pick this one up:

After I posted in August it seemed like the board went offline for a bit. Glad to see it back up. I’m going to keep up with it. Or at least try. I’ve been redoing my board. It was out of use for a couple of years. I’ve been playing with some folks for a while but things have been in a neglected state. Pedals flopping around with the Velcro falling off, everything disorganized, cables randomly shorting. And things generally aren’t the right gear for what I’m trying to do. Things are starting to get a little more serious with the band and I can finally can afford to buy a few pedals so I’m revamping things and trying to get back on my feet.

Y’all wanna hear about my new pedal? I’m thinking no one’s out there, but I bought a raw heart and it’s pretty sick.

i’ve been having terrible problems with off-brand Velcro coming unstuck from pedals. the rolls they sent with the Pedaltrain NanoMAX are terrible; i wound up using Shoe Goo on the backs so my power supplies would stay fixed to the underside of the frame. happily, Walmart sells packages of real Velcro pads that are great. crap Velcro…what a world, huh?
