Damn I never even noticed! Hmmm that one should go into the band names thread "Smarmy Vibesmears and the Defenders of the Ultraworld" - futuristic glam afro funk with a prog rock tinge

or

Smarmy Vibesmears and the Erotic Gloop... all synth act, the band play monosynths only and create chords by playing the component notes each at the same time while Smarmy yodels / scats his way through some twisted versions of French chanson and Scott Walker covers. Everyone is dressed in gold lamé suits with red silk cummerbunds. Smarmy has fresh puke down his suit... not his own puke though. He drinks red wine from the bottle on stage and lost the battle with his waistline several years ago. They mostly play hotel lobbies in Las Vegas from 1AM to 6AM.

An ocean of monosynths (with a guitar surfing on top of it)? :snax:

Does anyone know about this guy? He had some crazy build thread of a strat he used with a "trinaural" guitar rig. It isn't really much "true" surf rock but he's very keen on calling it that and I recall he had alot of reverb tanks in his behemoth of a rig

I take too much time away and straight up miss a Surf Rock thread

I tend to like stuff that ventures (no pun intended) into the darker and more dirty sounds. Some of my favs...

Cheers, I need to find more new surf rock to listen to, but I've been out of the loop lately and I tend to just listen to the same albums over and over anyway. The Beyonderers are semi-local to me too, though I haven't had a chance to catch them live yet.
