Oh I was never trying to say "don't try to do it". Getting a trombone and learning to play it is like, a completely insane level of commitment to just play a solo on one track, for instance

That tromboniness was genuine and very impressive. I need to try your settings!

Hey mates ! Still using yours ?
Been using mine at the end of the chain as final high gain pedal.
This pedal loves to be boosted (even if it has a lot of gain inside), and works very very well with any fuzz I have tried before. I think it does compress all frequencies/harmonics very well. It is never muffled, and even brings back frequencies lost by other drives/fuzz pedals before. I have not heard any pedal taking so well a treble booster (just like an old Marshall).
It is actually very complementary to a Kingsley Harlot V3 I received recently. Not the same type of gain. More upper mids here. More focused. It is not transparent. It sounds to me as more modern gain pedal. But engaging the Harlot before the Pretty Years allows me now to get more gain without losing notes definition.
However this pedal has got 1 main drawback, it is microphonic when you touch/move it, so I have to put it out of my board and use and separate switcher. I did send back the pedal to Brian so he could check and maybe replace tubes, but still have had the same problem at the return.
Damn it ! This is a so great sounding pedal !

I think that's just the nature of the sub-mini tubes.

I do have an Effectrode Firebottle too, and it isn't microphonic at all.goroth wrote:I think that's just the nature of the sub-mini tubes.
I think there is something with the circuit,or set of tubes Brian used.
