This is the one I bought from that guy’s shop a little while back. It’s more of a blue/purple color changer than the pics show.

This is an absolutely amazing semi-custom build from Balaguer Guitars. They are a brilliant builder local to me in PA and I liked that too. Pics show the entire build from raw wood selection thru to the mods I’ve made thru a reputable local repair shop. It’s set up currently with Rotosound Funkmaster set 30-90, so you’ll need to set up your way. The original Balaguer build included their house MM style pick up and passive electronic which I immediately changed. The configuration of the Lace MM Man O War pick up and an Audere active preamp make this thing sing like a bird. The Lace website recommends the use of this preamp specifically and stated that Audere does a slight mod to their module to make it work exceptionally well with Lace pickups. They are 100% correct.

This bass is a 30” scale that plays like a longer scale due to the bridge position on the body. You have 24 usable frets that are easily accessible, and the scale length was the appropriate choice to make them all very useful. The Mahogany body, Maple neck and Ebony finger board combination is such a wise choice and Balaguer’s wood quality is very high as they source their own woods to be used in their overseas shop where the builds are 80-90% completed. Final set up and inspections are done right here in the US and their shop techs were very impressive to work with. I’ve purchased a thumb rest that I thought I might like. I placed it with 2 side tape and don’t like it at all. I’ll include that with the Shaller strap locks I installed in the gigbag (pictured).

I’m not keeping this bass because the weight is a bit too much for me. Older guy with neck and back issues, that gigs a lot and uses short scale instruments to reduce fatigue and pain. In its current state this thing it so fast and so smooth it (almost) makes back pain irrelevant, almost!

I saw this build as a solution to everything I wanted and a bit of weight gain to the bass didn’t seem like it would be that impactful. IT IS!!

I could go on about this bass for days. Shoot me your questions. I have about $2600 into this bass with the semi-custom build and mods. It is 1 month old and I’ve gigged with it once. I’m looking for a pretty modest price for the bass all things considered and hope to find it a home worthy of it’s quality!!

Thank you.
