I ran a bass through a Dirt Transmitter about a month ago and didn't think it sounded all that great. It can murder you with fuzz with a guitar (a good thing) but it sounded a little thin with bass. Muffs fed with a bass tend to turn to mush in a full band mix in my experience (although I've never tried my Hoof with bass), so I'd be hesitant to try one. The Monarch is great with bass and might be something to try.
