Sample Science just dropped an updated version of Drone Piano. It now works natively with M1 Silicon. There's a small window left to get it on sale for $12. (use code EPIC)

https://www.samplescience.info/2020/12/drone-piano.html

There are a lot of pianos and drone VSTs out there, but this one blends the two in a really useful way for experimental and cinematic textures. SS also makes other lo-fi pianos, perc, and synth-inspired VSTs. If you like textural stuff, Boards of Canada, or retro percussion, the shop is worth a look.

Way Huge is shipping a new fuzz on September 15th. (retail $170) Based on the name and sound, it seems to be a not-so-subtle homage to QOTSA/desert rock.

Pigtronix spoiled their own release embargo, and I suspected it but didn’t screen grab.

They’re trying to build suspense for a product drop on 9/26 but their YT showed the scheduled video briefly today. It’s a reverb with morphing, name started with an “o” I think. Looked like the same form factor as the Gloamer and Infinity 2.

Morphing could be interesting. Or not.

Bill Rupert demo on YT of the pico Attack Delay, thought someone else for the Deep Freeze. Both seem fun.

the mini-pitchfork looks very put-in-guitarable

Interesting. I never thought about battery life with those drool-inducing Bilt guitars with built in CBA Moods. And these don’t have battery options, so how fast would these be draining a battery if they aren’t designed with battery life in mind?

Very interesting new pedals from EHX!

But... This series is called Pico-DSP.
All share the same control array (4 knobs, 1 push button, 1 footswitch).
That DSP in the name makes me think these are all digital pedals, and I wouldn't be surpised if inside these all look the same. Aka there's a processor chip, that EHX loads with the different algorhythms.

So I don't understand why the prices ranges between 130 up to 250 usd?!?!?
Why pay more or less only because the graphics and the name are different???

Doesn't makes sense to me. I understad you need more effort to program a polyphonic pitch-shifter instead of a distortion, but those are cost you can cover equally over the time EHX is selling these (and they will sell).

This said, I am still considering the Deep Freeze. It's totally a mini Superego, and I like you have that Attack or Decay option you can set on the Speed/Layer control for the Auto mode.

Necro bump and maybe not new but Brand New Noise is making some great kid friendly stuff... I've been jamming the Shaka Khan, Loopy Lou and the Zoots Kalimba to great effect... Kid stuff is still fun even when you're old as dirt like me... :excellent:

The Brand New Noise stuff is great! :joy:

As for the Bull Frog, a few demos have spread out since that last post, also one with a slightly hilarious XL version (4 learnin'!) :)*

Can't mess with the standard line-up pricing, tho, as that would devalue all the oldies but goodies. Distortions will always be cheaper than modulation, and people will always pay more for modulation.

And while I'm all-for the Deep Freeze (it's about time!), I hope the Pico series will not suffer the low quality builds that plague all modern EHX pedals, or the normal problems of other mini/micro pedals (random glitching, PSU woes, snapping pots easily, etc.), but I'll have to fork over $193.10 before tax to find out, first.

I hadn't even thought about those picos on the instrument, but that's a solid idea...you can literally have a small pedalboard velcro'ed to the instrument and with the wide variety of picos whatever you like to tweak whether its delays and reverbs or pitch shifting there's so many options and possibilities.

(first third of the video) At around 30% wet, these sound quite good---it's sort of like realistic fantasy reverb---occupying a space between the epic character of DSP and natural room reverbs. ---Reminds me of the Strymon Dig experience, which has a sound in between digital and BBD.

If I wasn't paying attention or know this was a 'morphing' reverb, it'd just be something nice happening in the background. I would have to actually be in analytical mode to appreciate the movement and texture on lower settings---reverb is such a saturated and varied niche. The stuff at the end of the video is killer---that delayed swell with the reduced size is really nice. I really want to hear this on piano/plucks/horns/violins + other ambient tools (Volante, DIG, Afterneath, Microcosm, Thermae).
