i... never hated SansAmps. just saying.

I have one kid who is obsessed with music. He's loved classical music since he was a baby and wants to be a maestro. He took piano and then violin in orchestra....but the kid has no work ethic. Lol. Super smart. He's reading on a middle school level and has the countries song from animaniacs memorized.....but won't practice an instrument and can't sit still. So lessons are more of a time filler thing than him actually learning. He's not ready.

One of my daughters wants to be a rocker. She's ready, I think. But the other three eight year olds are only slightly interested. Not enough for lessons at their age. So it's only worth it for 20% of my eight year olds and my five year old isn't ready.

And fn Tom Brady......grumble grumble.

Nah, I know what you mean.

We've got instruments everywhere in our household, in kid-friendly sizes, and full size. Fucken amps and stuff. You name it. Every now and then someone will pick something up but it ain't happening. And I'm not going to force music onto them. As much as I kind of want to...

Every time you say wal or boss oc2 twenty tb members start violently jerking it

Bhenders if you are looking for a DI / cab sim that’s not a sans amp the dark glass element is good in that regard. Has a cab sim built into it and you can connect different instruments and shiz. Other than the ultra trendy distortions I have really enjoyed having it. It’s the brains of my pedal board and how I am allowed to buy pedals again.

One of the best things of 2020 was coming back here and playing bass again. Before I started posting I was signed up for Scott Devine’s online bass school. It was a good tool for me to brush up and get back to playing but the vibe is really tall butt. Especially when he waxes on how great the Gary Wills jazz standards are , I mean don’t get me wrong I love Gary and he is a monster bass player but holy shit the music and lesion made me want to stab my eyes.

I am just like you Sousa I have generally about 1-2 hours a week to play between kids / work / not sleeping.

Haha. I'm afraid to dig out my pedals now for fear of looking out the window and seeing a group of 60 year lawyers wanking it.

Pretty sure that Wals and OC-2s are not the big thing on TB. Fodera, Sadowsky, Alleva Coppolo etc. Basically the $5k Fenders.
I would say Broughton snd Source Audio are some of the TB wank off pedals. Of course Dingwall/Darkglass are still very TB for metal too. (Don’t worry Behndy, they are the import Dingwalls  )

Also, the hype is true about Wals, it sounds fucking fantastic.

Regarding kids and music. My 5yo (Harper) went to music class when she was 3.5-4. It was cool, very broad and about music overall. Feeling the rhythm, counting the rhythms, singing song, call and response (secretly teaching modes and scales). It was fun because parents attend, Dax was going too so he was under a year and participating/watching. There was an awesome jam session, lots of dancing, etc. The teacher is a former Broadway performer and just an awesome guy.
Harper likes to jam with me or free style sing sing while I play music.

My little guy, Dax, is super musical already. I think that class did something to his brain in a great way. He has been able to keep steady beats since he was 9 months old. He is really good a singing call and response games. He loves to jam when he isn’t being a destructive 2 year old.

Harper does Gymnastics twice a week and she is really good at it. I don’t want to burn her or us out by putting too much on her plate like another day of lessons and then practicing too. Guess I will talk to her some more and see if she picks it over dance or some other options.

I got a Sansamp back in the fall/end of summer. It's rad. They're rad. There's a reason they're everywhere.

But! There are a bunch of other cool preamps out there as well. DG. Orange. Rusty Box, obviously.

Can the Rusty Box do clean toanz too? Part of the reason I don't mess around with bass as often anymore is because I only have a power amp and the layout required to hook my crap up to a mixer and then the amp is a mess and a pain.

I think the combustion is fabricated in China in and then sent back to Canada where it’s assembled and inspected.

Bullshit if you ask me - especially for the 2k price tag

I would assume so but I have never owned one. Bob Weston's tone with Shellac isn't particularly distorted though?

I don't know much about Shellac (other than they rock) but the Rusty Box can do the clean TOANZ - an old forum member Eric! used to use a Rusty Box and loved it. There are a LOT of pedal pre amps out there, MXR, Mesa, Agular, TC Electronic that due super clean bass toanz, I gave up on getting one once I got my MBD2, and realized with the cabsim on my Darkglass Element I am able to get the sound I want.
