I'd agree with you except for the fact that you're wrong

Personally you need a minimum of two comps on a bass board, one for normal stuff and one for stacking for that Levin super squishy sound

I never really got into compressors. Like I'd use them when I plugged into the computer if I didnt run a fridge emulator but irl I just turned the gain up on my ampeg I felt that was good enought. Maybe running a compressor would be better but I wanted to buy more distortions instead. I play more guitar these days but I still wanna compressor sometimes but I feel it is more of a principle thing because I listen to my amp sound and think "yeah I want a compressor so i can sound like that!" which is really moronic. Tho I saw a guy on youtube who ran a compressor after his distortion just to make it sustain more and it was kinda cool. Tony Levin tones are cool but I'm a longhair so I can't do that.

But yeah I went on talkbass a bit today to check the broughton audio thread cause I think he is a cool builder (also I wanted to find out if he had made a 2-knob hotcake because I mistook that I had had one). Tho like maan are the people in that thread morons, super obsessed and the whole ilmited build thing just ruins everything. Kinda funny though because those pedals seem only to hold value inside that thread. Saw one of their pedals in the used section in a store for nothing that went unsold for a few months  Their overdrive is good though, super boring when you play at home but bestial in a band setting

i have the compressor at the end of the chain, where it won't fuck up the envelope filter.

Sadly it don't do anything other than make it do less.. unless you use an orange squeezer set weird... But yeah after is important... unless you want possibly start blowing speakers... :omg: Every filter I've liked has always had a violent volume spike... and when you start stacking for weird sounds.. the spikes get pretty volatile... a comp or limiter saves your speakers if you don't just play at a practice level :thumb:

That's why I usually like envelope filters somewhere in the middle of the signal chain. ;) :snax:
