Just want to say, the fake poster is still the funniest thing I've seen on this site besides $22.
"SWIPE LEFT ASSHOLE!" -retinal orbita
"Whatever ASSHOLE here’s my pedal that makes humpback whale noises and also it has a built in sequencer so stick it in your craw! -retinal orbita
"Patty Mullen takes me from a ball peen to a sledge" -The Great Velvet Hammer
"...at this exact moment Divine has learned of your jealous scheme from the local town gossip. She also has your address, ASS HOLE!" -Narrator (Mr. J) PINK FLAMINGOS

Yeah that would be reeeaaaally damn helpful. My biggest issue with it: not a lot of storage space and no expansion. Absolutely fine for drums, you can store more drum hits than you'd ever need, but once you start sampling longer things the space gets eaten up quite quick.

or hop a trot and go straight for the jugular, I mean Octatrack?
The mk.1 elektrons are such value right now it is crazy. With the octatrack there is no real difference between mk1 and 2

Pros with the octa over digitakt that warrant the difference in cost (i actually realize they seem to be still quite expensive abroad, don't know why they are so cheap in sweden, but check vend.se and I am sure they can ship to italy)
- The performance slider (no joke this is amazing)
- Compact flash card for infinite storage
- Mixer cababilities
- FX-loop shit
- lots of modes for it to work as a guitar loopbox (with footswitch and all)

There are lots of info on youtube about the differences. I know it is a bit off the deep end, but honestly it is really exaggerated how difficult it is to learn. I mean, just a bit of manual and you figure it out pretty quick

I can sometimes still think of that crank coming in and calling people linguini physiqued. it is excellent and also an accurate descriptor of myself

An update on the OP-Z: i still like it. My goal is to release two albums this year. One of them will be me playing my synths in a classic, DAWless fashion where I only use internal sequencers and loopers. The other I plan on making one long piece with a single tempo, and have everything orchestrated and controlled by the OP-Z.

The sampling function is fun, limited in ways that I like, and I really enjoy not worrying about finding the perfect sample or managing a library of samples. It’s basically exactly what I was looking for. That said, I do wish the pitch bend was on the front of the unit, and I wish it had more hands-on control of its features. But no gear is perfect, if it was absolutely perfect it would be boring.

Luckily I already have a hard time justifying a Digitakt (first hardware sampler, I don't want to start with something too pricey) so I won't fall in your trap sir.
Thanks for the advice though.

Dowi you should keep the Minilogue though
;)
I won't sell it, don't worry, it's too good, and i think i don't even use a quarter of its features yet. It's just that I can't invest more money if I don't sell something else.

I only skimmed through this thread, so I might have missed it - did anyone mention the Synthstrom Deluge? It seems fascinating, though I haven't tried one.

IT IS GOOD TO SEE YOU

and yeah that looks indeed very cool. I think in my mind it would compete with a tracker, but that my mind would drift towards tracker in the end

We are very lucky to have so many viable options. It's nuts.

Deluge does live sampling, has a fantastic sequencer, and an inbuilt mic, so it ticks a lot of the boxes of whoever was asking for them. But as a 2x Zoia apologist / lover, the grid-based interface coupled with a lack of knobs is not for everyone.

I'm a sucker for goofy shit like that so the Blackbox is the new winner for best sampler of 2020 in my eyes.

I've also pondered few times to "uprgade" to an Octa, but I stay with my trusty Digitakt for few main reasons: form factor is a winner, and for my needs it's super flexible, and I can quickly mangle sounds and create stuff, use it as a standard sampler/drum-machine or as a synth in chromatic mode.
I really wonder about the live-looping capabilities of the octa sometimes, but after the last firmware update, Digitakt did a huge step forward (new filter modes, dual LFO and FINALLY the mixer for the external inputs), so I don't see a point to get a new machine, and for looping I have the Looperlative LP2 which is amazing.
I also think the rumours that "learning the elektron workflow is a pain in the ass" are way exaggerated! With DT after 2-3 days owning it and some good will I was already able to do quite a lot.
