I hope you like it, but I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't give a shit about that release.

You're not alone guy, I played the first one for a few hours, found it incredibly dull and haven't looked back since.

YES. Can't wait to play this. Assassinating dudes in revolutionary America AND seeing how the AC story wraps up? Winsauce.

Achtane wrote:Yeah, I'm not really into AC games. It was cool the first time around but eh.
I also dislike 99% of indie games. Especially the recent trend of simple pixelated graphics. The good developers of the NES/SNES era pushed the graphical limitations of those systems, made everything look as lush and smooooooove as possible...this is just a "hey this is so wacky and retro" style, it's rarely comparable.

I will agree that the first game was not for most people - it was slow and repetitive and tedious if you played it the way they wanted you to. The rest of the series is all sorts of fantastic imo - I am one of the few that enjoyed the first game, but I love the rest of the series.

I like the retro style in games done well - not all pixelated and shit. Make cell shaded hd sprites and ridiculously detailed backgrounds - games like that are an amazing throwback to 8 and 16 bit games. Retro done right.

Finally got around to starting Red Dead Redemption. Only played a few missions, but so far it's very cool. Looks great, and the gameplay is really good so far. Still haven't gotten used to using horses instead of cars, but overall I'm excited to finally play it.

I'm assuming you mean Red Dead. The only downside is that the ending got spoiled for me while reading an article about another game. Not a huge deal, I'm sure I will still enjoy the game, but the ending might not hit as hard.

I'm over Dishono(u)red and AC3... I'm ready for another monster killing game, I get tired of the human killing fast. Pretty much everybody that does walkthroughs for these games is basically just a psycho serial killer getting his jollies in a video game... I like magic and monsters and adventure quests, stuff like that, enough with the constant brutal human murdering.

That's why I dig the spirit of thes indie gamers.. sure they're reinventing the wheel a bit with the pixel graphics etc but the spirit is in the fun of gaming like original gamers grew up with. Challenges and puzzles and fun music and fun graphics... now it's just all about murdering humans as realistically as possible.

 But throwing severed limbs at people as a distraction is super entertaining! And trying to go non-lethal on Dishonored gets really boring really fast. There's really not as many ways through a level as they'd like you to think.

Which is why I'm back to Baldur's Gate II.

Now if I could only "find" Quest for Glory V...

I think the Baldur's Gate games are awesome, love all D&D games, but they just aren't fun to watch on YouTube. It's that overhead view.. everything is so far away and I can't see anything and it's not as fun.

I love Quest for Glory I and II, they're so cool.. I love it less when it becomes a point and click game rather than a text based game.. I think that was a mistake on Sierra's part with Quest for Glory and Space Quest, but I know they were just keeping up with the times and had to do it.

Thanks for the Trine tip, I'll check it out today!

Gonna check out some Halo 4 vids too.. I'm not much of a FPS guy but sometimes they're good.. Mass Effect series is very good.

Haha. Was the article about GTAV rumors on IGN? I just read that a few minutes ago!

I don't think it's going to ruin the game for me at all. It's just a game, and you play it to have fun all throughout it... it's direct entertainment. It's not like a book or a movie or something where the POINT is storytelling. Storytelling is just an easy bonus for newer videogames... You could have a killer story, but the game might be boring as dead shit.

Nah - it was an article about LA Noire, since they are both Rockstar games. I don't know how similar the stories are since I just started Red Dead (and the article only blew the ending - for no real reason too), but Noire has a great story. It's actually a perfect example of your point depending on how you look at it - that game got tedious and sort of boring during the last bit of the game, but the story was so engaging that I played through it just to see how everything wrapped up and came together. I think that games can be a good medium for story telling - take Heavy Rain (which is apparently all about choices/story) or even Uncharted which plays well and is fun, but for me the story is the reason I come back to that series.

Now stuff like Elder Scrolls, Kingdoms of Amalur, ect - I don't give two shits about the story - just give me some generic medieval shit and turn me lose on the world.

As a Let's Play watcher, the game has to have a good story! A cool premise, theme, idea behind what we're doing here... gotta be driven by something interesting that I can get into whilst working.

Great RPGs always tell a great tale too... flippin best genre!

You might dig LA Noire then - I think it could be pretty cool to watch. A lot of the gameplay is questioning witnesses and interrogating fools so it might make a pretty cool Let's Play. Very traditional noire story - so as long as you can get on board with that you would be good to go.
